Trump Orders EPA To Plan Release Of Modified Mosquito And Tick Technologies

President Donald Trump ordered the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to create a regulatory framework for the “planned development and release into the environment” of mosquito- and tick-control technologies, according to a September 29 executive order published by the White House.
The executive order says that framework must consider “sterilization techniques, safe genetic modification, and use of safe, beneficial bacteria.”
Where is the informed consent?
What exactly will be released?
What has been modified?
Which bacteria will be used?
What else will the resulting products contain or carry?
How far can they travel?
Who monitors unintended exposure?
Who is liable if something goes wrong?
And how does an American who does not consent keep a released organism off their body and off their property?
The executive order does not say.
I do not consent.

President Donald Trump’s September 29, 2026, executive order, “Eliminating Disease-Carrying Pests and Restoring Enjoyment of the Great Outdoors.”
‘Safe’ Before We Know What It Is
The executive order calls the contemplated technologies “advanced, safe, and effective.”
It separately calls the contemplated genetic modification “safe” and the bacteria “safe” and “beneficial.”
But the order does not identify the eventual products.
The conclusion therefore precedes the product.
What exactly is “safe”?
What bacteria are “beneficial”?
What physical intervention constitutes the “genetic modification”?
What evidence establishes safety for the actual product, quantity, environment, dispersal, and exposure?
And even if government officials eventually answer those questions, their answer cannot manufacture informed consent from the people living inside the release environment.
Industry Gets a Seat. Where Is Ours?
The executive order says EPA’s environmental-release framework must be “informed by relevant academic centers and industry.”
It then orders EPA to “prioritize and expeditiously advance or register” novel mosquito- and tick-control products the agency finds safe and effective.
So which companies will help inform the framework?
Which own the technologies?
Which stand to profit from their deployment?
And why does the order expressly give industry a role while establishing no informed-consent mechanism for the people expected to share their environment with the resulting releases?
Industry consultation is not informed consent.
D.C. Is the Test Case for America
The executive order requires federal agencies to launch a D.C. campaign targeting a 90% reduction in invasive mosquitoes and 50% reduction in ticks by 2028.
It says agencies must prioritize “commercial capabilities or cooperative agreements,” including technological approaches.
Then comes the national bridge.
The executive order makes it federal policy to expand successful D.C. approaches as a model for “nationwide control of tick and invasive mosquito populations.”
The sequence is clear:
Industry-informed framework ? environmental release ? D.C. deployment ? nationwide model.
Where in that sequence does the American public give informed consent?
The executive order does not say.
Bottom Line
Trump ordered the federal government to build an industry-informed framework for releasing mosquito- and tick-control technologies into the environment, including technologies involving what his administration calls genetic modification and beneficial bacteria.
The executive order calls them “safe” before identifying the eventual products.
It gives industry a role.
It makes D.C. the test case for a nationwide model.
But it establishes no informed-consent mechanism for the Americans who will live inside the release environment.
Government approval is not informed consent.
Industry consultation is not informed consent.
Calling something “safe” is not informed consent.
And once it is released into the environment, saying “no” may already be impossible.
I do not consent.
Do you?
