The Wrong Sanctions – Other Ideas

The world is fretting over “too high” natural gas (NG) and crude oil (CO) prices, especially those that are already sold at discounts to the prevailing “Brent” and “West Texas” CO benchmark prices, commodities that are sold in large volumes by Russia.

With winter fast approaching, this is a major concern for much of the population in Europe, especially the part that enjoys well heated homes and offices in winter.

The sanctions against those Russian energy products are biting, albeit not much in Russia but mostly in Europe – not exactly as envisaged by the sanctions’ instigators.

Envisaged G7 Sanctions

After sanctioning the NG from Russia ( and mysterious “explosions” of several pipelines through the Baltic ), the G7 has agreed, at least in principle, to now establish price controls on Russia’s crude oil as well.

Details as to what mechanisms and benchmark to use are still to be worked out. But, rest assured, where there is a will, ….

What’s wrong with that approach?

It’s creating the problem that is causing the effect. However, let me explain other ways to correct the situation. Let me explain:

My Analysis

The real problem of cold winters in Europe is all the cold air flowing from Siberia to Europe. Just imagine if that air were coming from Africa or South America instead!

Clearly, that would solve the problem once and for all. Warm temperatures year round and Russia can stuff its oil back down into the hole it came from.

Possible Mechanisms

Actually there are several solutions, at least according to my theories. For example, sanction or ban the Siberian air flow, lock stock and barrel ( just an accidental pun ).

Another one, I would call the “Grand Solution” is to move the earth axis so that the equatorial plain would go, for example, through Davos (Switzerland) rather than through the country of Ecuador ( that would likely need a change of name then but I think the folks may adapt ).

Yet another solution would be to cut-off Siberia from the Eurasian plate altogether and shift it down south, say to Abu Dhabi or where ever it may be welcome.

After all, as mankind can already make asteroids change their course, so either NASA or the U.S. Corps of Engineers ought to be able to take care of that little problem.

In short

So, please, give this satire and my proposals the thought they deserve!

Perhaps some of the COP27 attendees may even want to consider them.

      Hi Alan,

Yes, we have to laugh at Klaus’s satire because if we look at the stupidity going on, we would have to wept.

      Have a good day, Jerry

But, but what about all that water from the melting ice and snow????? As ideas go, they are as good and as effective as any others I have seen so far.
