The Origin of Greta Thunberg’s ‘200 species extinctions per day’

200 extinct species per day didn’t ring true to me so I looked into it starting in May, 2020, ready to accept the narrative.

If they were not telling such outrageous lies they would have fewer opponents. I want her to do well, so Greta, if you will issue a public apology for having believed that false notion of 200 species per day and then switch to talking about the 32,000+ threatened species in coordination with IUCN to help motivate people to get moving toward protecting them, I will modify this page. Living species are what matter, more than your imaginary 200 that didn’t go extinct yesterday nor any day.

Partial truth. Collapsing why? Because we are burning forests to grow palm oil for the extra 1,643,040 new consumers on earth each week for example, not CO2. You’re correct that we can’t have eternal economic growth like this but you think plant food helping to keep everybody fed (so far) is the villain. CO2 is crop fertilizer. You, Greta, are pushing your fairy tale of 200 species per day supposedly going extinct due to CO2 and climate. First of all, call it 2 per year on average, not 73,000 and the villain is human expansion as we are breeding like rabbits, detail below.

Highlights Summary

After Dec 2020, I can find only 18 species actually declared extinct during all of 2020, 15 freshwater fish species in Lake Lanao because some genius threw in bigger fish that ate their babies (along with overfishing), plus 3 frogs near Panama due to chytridiomycosis (according to IUCN), a fungus beginning 1994. The lake is a combat zone by the way. On earth there are no extinctions from CO2, warming, climate change or even extreme weather.

The real causes of extinctions are pollution, overhunting, destruction of habitats and so on. It is miraculous that the real extinction numbers are actually under 2 per year the way humanity is expanding.

Key Points

Greta Thunberg: 200/day = 73,000/yr (Adam Rogers, 1995, no science behind it, only bogus model rumors, prove me wrong by producing a model and the data)

2021 IUCN reports only 18 actual extinctions during 2020. A page title says 31 but read it carefully as 13 of those are not actually extinct. In serious trouble thanks to us, yes, and that’s terrible, but not extinct, what’s almost extinct is truth-telling

2020 Over 130,000 web pages repeating the 200/day claim and blaming it on climate

2009 Only 1.7/yr (IUCN, 16,000 scientists and experts assessing species worldwide)

… That’s 137 per day starting in 1980.

1979, Norman Myers, Conserving our Global Stock: Environment: Science and Policy for Sustainable Development: Vol 21, No 9

… “present century, about one species per year” [that was very close to accurate according to IUCNs later report in 2009, so not 73,000/yr but just 1 only? Evidently for these gentlemen, math is not their strong suit, nor truth?]

May 10, 2021: Greta tells legislator

“there was no scientific study that made me come to that conclusion” that people should panic, it was just a “metaphor”.

Greta the Grating wraps herself in the science flag and makes a mockery of science.

Jan 21, 2020: Greta Thunberg scolds the World Economic Forum, emissions must not just be lowered, they must totally stop immediately

She didn’t mention what her plan will do–without any diesel for trucks to move food from farms to stores or to cook or heat homes tomorrow–about the starved and frozen bodies. Perhaps her idea is to dehydrate them for use in building materials?

Correct but you bought into the lie and missed the real cause, Greta. You didn’t do your homework so I did it for you.

“You say nothing in life is black or white. But that is a lie. A very dangerous lie. Either we prevent 1.5 C of warming or we don’t.” –Greta Thunberg

What makes them think another 0.5 C of warming would be certain doom? We are thriving now as civilizations flourished in the Egyptian, Roman and Medieval Warm Periods likely warmer than today. Ideal greenhouse temperature is 80 to 85 F and CO2 is plant food, it is employed in greenhouses up to 1500 ppm (in fact sometimes by burning natural gas), we’re at 415 ppm (Aug 2021). There are record crop yields occurring. NASA: Carbon Dioxide Fertilization Greening Earth, Study Finds

All The Things Wrong With Using Greta Thunberg To Promote Climate Change Fears

A little help? Does anyone know of any extinction model formula (and data inputs) that are not hidden in darkness?

They have evidently made a conscious decision to use deception in their terror campaign and it shows in every corner of climate alarmism.

To capture the public imagination, we have to offer up some scary scenarios, make simplified dramatic statements and little mention of any doubts one might have. … decide the right balance between being effective, and being honest.” –Stephen Schneider, Discover Magazine

We’ve got to ride this global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing in terms of economic and environmental policy.“ – Timothy Wirth, President of the UN Foundation

No matter if the science of global warming is all phony, climate change provides the greatest opportunity to bring about justice and equality in the world.” – Christine Stewart, former Canadian Minister of the Environment

Connecting the dots

In gathering information on climate along with numerous other topics, the big picture emerging is that our rulers and influencers are seeing that earth is in big trouble going forward but they believe we cannot be reasoned with using truth so they must control us with fear and deception. They have decided to become our saviors using lies. Greta goes for anything that terrifies her the most, making her an easy tool for them, but sometimes it is a mix.

Adam Rogers followed his false 200/day claim in 1995 with a near-truth that is indeed to be feared in my opinion, a quarter million new people on earth every day. This is the root cause of all of our problems however it also makes for obscene profits. It is Greta’s real enemy, she’s just too dumb to realize it. Since 1995, an extra 2.2 billion new eaters/consumers joined us on earth. In 2014 it was reported we eat 11 million pounds of food per MINUTE.

Add 600 million eaters since then to 2021. My figures are based on the U.N. World Population Dashboard numbers in 2020, and I calculated 163/minute, 9,780/hour, 234,720/day (approaching 1/4 million), 1,643,040/week, 7,135,488/month, 85,625,856/year. Those are new consumers (accounting for deaths) and they’re all going to need more mining and energy to make their phones, vehicles, store products, homes and work places.

There is no way those of us out here can offset the effect of 9,780 new people per hour by recycling plastic bags or driving less or even paying carbon taxes. We either muster up some guts to face this population growth problem or we will suffer the horrifying consequences.

What can we do? What about making the pill free worldwide? I asked a woman if it has side-effects and she said yeeessss with a look that implied: How is it you could be that clueless?

So I suggest we offer $300 cash to any vasectomy volunteers as token thanks for caring about the planet.

We are running out of farmland to be able support the extra 234,720 new consumers each day without destroying forests to make room. Over 25,000 square miles of forest (species habitat) was deliberately burned in Indonesia for example to plant palm oil trees for heavy market demand. Europe is destroying forests, chopping them up to be burned as fuel and watch, they will be turned into farmland, no other choice.

Study carefully the text on the page beside this image by going to https://ourworldindata.org/land-use#how-the-world-s-land-is-used-total-area-sizes-by-type-of-use-cover

Climate alarmists are engaged in a terror campaign but avoiding the real truth. Yes, Greta, we should get out of our comfort zone but for the real reason we are breeding like rabbits. Sub-Saharan Africa expected to double by 2050, Bangladesh the size of Illinois has more people than giant Russia. Klaus Schwab says we will eat meat only as an occasional treat after the upcoming great reset why? Because land for animals produces less protein per acre than cropland for direct human consumption.

200 species per day extinct from climate change? 73,000 per year? That’s their “science”? While all the data says otherwise.

Greta owes the world an apology, do it, and until then ought to be ashamed of herself. Wake up Greta and pivot so your future can be reasonable instead of having a reputation as promoter of nonsense. Pivot to the 32,000+ living threatened species in coordination with IUCN. You could urge people to pick a species in trouble and to do gofundme’s for them, to round up friends and go there gathering information, finding out why and what can be done to protect that species.

We’re drowning in deceptions.

Try truth: World population growth rate is the real problem.

Greta should set an example to everybody and take Attenborough and the Royal Family to live with nature in a forest somewhere far away from all modern conveniences. Let them discover what it was like with no shelter, energy or food, unless they catch it or gather it.

The biggest explosion of live that ever happened was during the Cambrian period when CO2 levels were 10x today’s levels.

Excluding species only found on an isolated island, cave, nunatak, lake , or stream system (like the Calif. snail darter), most species are just fine. The Amazon rainforest and its species move back into abandoned land very quickly such that species diversity there is fine. When some idiot biologist finds that a certain squirrel is not found on the other side of the Rockies, he can declare it endangered on that side despite that the squirrel is thriving on the other side. For that matter Bengal tigers are endangered throughout most of the world.

Then, there is the idiotic premise that a biologist decides that an area COULD BE the habitat for a nearby species and then declare the area and endangered potential habitat for that species.

There have been two truly stupid and bogus computer-based studies that predicted very high extinctions rates.

One was a program designed for species surveys which determines how many meter-squares in a forest would be needed to detect 90-95% of the species in the forest. The computer hacks took this program and species in a meter-square and ran it backward, thus predicting how many species would not be in the forest as a result. This is wrong and clear torturing of the program and the logic.

The other study, my favorite, was a program designed to predict how many species go extinct before we ever detect them. It’s like they never existed and you can put in any numbers you want and get whatever answer you want.

A few years ago, I did a survey of mammalian and bird extinction. I found that there were 9 extinctions in 100 years and almost all were isolated populations, which are by definition endangered for being in such a small, limited ecosystem. None of these were from habitat loss from humans, other than hunting, as with the passenger pigeon and the dodo.

In the meantime, however, we discovered 15 species that we thought were extinct and were not. So, we are up 6 species.

What year(s) were the two “computer-based studies that predicted very high extinctions rates”?
As a software engineer, I’m aching to get my mitts on one of those models and the data inputs as I should be able to tell whether we’re dealing with crooks or good men who meant well at first or imbeciles.

Since Chernobyl there has been an explosion of wildlife in the region. At Bikini Atoll the coral is in pristine condition and growing like a forest. Interesting what happens when humans don’t visit an area. Climate change has nothing to do with it.

I was with you up until you said “the human population is the problem”! Funny thing, but people are often able to solve problems! We have more gas and oil reserves today than we did in the 1970s, for instance! There are more deer and many other species of wildlife in North America now than there were in 1500! No, when we destroy human life we destroy future geniuses (genii?)! People who have the right attitude have done amazing things for conservation, and we are able to live alongside wild animals!

The one thing that is missing from this debate is the most important thing of all; this planet was created by an intelligent person, who has a plan for it! Here’s what He says about it:
“For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else.” Isaiah 45:18
When the Lord Jesus returns He is going to fix the problems of this planet; that’s bad news for those who hate Him, but good news for the planet! We’re not talking about a far distant possibility, but a near future reality!

    Get ready, He’s coming!

It makes me think of an irony – out west in US in the desire to bring back declining mountain lion populations, they then get eaten by said kitty while out jogging or bike riding.
