Ordinary inhumanity in 2021 France

Since the beginning of the month, schools have been harassing parents daily with multiple daily SMS to get their children vaccinated.  Rare are those who have resisted so far.

An asthmatic boy of 14 is having an allergic reaction to a chemical accidentally spread on his clothes.   He asks for permission to lower the mask, mandatory for all school children from the age of 6.  School hours are long in France and it is nearly impossible to find a doctor who will sign an exemption for asthma or any other medical reason.  Permission is refused.  He is taken to the office of the senior education adviser (SEA).  She phones his father, who before being told anything, is asked whether his son is vaccinated.   Following his negative reply, she refuses the boy stays in her office, and has him conducted to the playground.  She refuses the father’s demand that the son be allowed to sit down by a window.  The boy is hardly able to breathe – an audible wheezing sound accompanies each of his breath.  He has to wait for his father standing in the cold.

The scene shifts to the emergency services of one of the well-known hospitals of the region, where his father has driven his son.  At admissions, again the first question asked is whether the son is vaccinated.   As he is not, they are sent to the far end of emergency, in an area away from the general public.   The doctor says it may be covid.  The father insists it is not, it is an asthmatic reaction which his son is prone to. Nonetheless, the doctor tells them that unless they are allowed to conduct the full PCR test (nose and throat) on the boy, they will not examine him.  This is the rule for all children.  So a test is conducted on a boy who is having a serious asthma attack, so severe that after the test, the hospital is forced to administer high flow oxygen for 3 hours, not the usual 1 hour as in his previous attacks.   The hospital diagnoses a particularly severe asthmatic attack due to allergy to chemicals.

When the father phones the SEA to say the doctor has given his son three days’ full rest at home, her only reply is to insist that the son be vaccinated, and to scare the father if he does not comply.

On 13 October,  the senate will debate the draft bill on mandatory vaccination presented by the socialist party.   Yesterday on 6 October it was turned down by the Commission of Social affairs, and hence it is unlikely to be accepted now.  But yesterday, at the same time, the Haute Autorité de Santé which is notably responsible for accrediting health professionals, recommended a 3^rd dose of the Pfizer jab for them.  They are already subject to mandatory vaccination since the beginning of August.  Hence the bill many well be passed at a later date.

In the meantime, also on 13 October the government will present a bill to the Council of Ministers allowing the extension of health measures, including the pass, until the summer of 2022.  Currently, the measures only hold until 15 November.  A draft bill has already been sent to the Constitutional Council – the highest constitutional authority of the country –  which consists of former presidents and senior politicians  and has in the last months stopped the hearing of a major case brought against the State regarding present policies.

From 15 October, without a medical prescription, the antigenic and PCR tests will cost between 22 to 30 Euros for the former and 44 Euros for latter but only for unjabbed adults.  Until now they were free for everyone.  The unjabbed  need them to obtain the pass, without which many critical undertakings are banned, such as attending hospitals, some workplaces, or taking long distance public transports.  The test results are only valid 3 days.  This may motivate many to get the second dose in order to obtain the pass, or even possibly the third one to anticipate losing their pass in the future like in Israel.

According to the European Union figures, more than 93 percent of all adults in France have been jabbed at least once, and more than 82 percent at least twice.  Before 12 July, when the president informed the nation of the coming mandatory pass, about 68 percent were jabbed once 48 percent twice.  Hence, a policy of threatening people with mandatory vaccination and of imposing health passports has so far proved successful.
