Obese People Much More Likely To Die From Covid

Obesity is one of the many health conditions doctors say can put someone at greater risk from COVID-19. A new report is now revealing the true scope of how being overweight is contributing to the pandemic’s death toll.

Researchers with the World Obesity Federation find nearly 90 percent of the deaths from COVID have taken place in countries where the obesity rate is the highest in the world.

According to their report COVID-19 and Obesity: The 2021 Atlas, 2.2 million of the 2.5 million deaths reported through February 2021 occurred in nations where over the half the population classifies as overweight. Researchers say by the end of 2020, death rates from COVID-19 were over ten times higher in these countries.

“Increased bodyweight is the second greatest predictor of hospitalization and a high risk of death for people suffering from COVID-19. Only old age rates as a higher risk factor,” the group’s president John Wilding and CEO Johanna Ralston write.

“We show that in those countries where overweight affects only a minority of the adult population, the rates of death from COVID-19 are typically less than one tenth the levels found in countries where overweight affects the majority of adults.”

Where is obesity doing the most harm?

The report shows some of the nations hardest hit by the virus also rank among the most overweight countries in the world. This includes United Kingdom, Italy, and the United States — where the overweight percentage is nearly 68 percent. Along with the tremendous cost in lives, researchers find the pandemic will have a staggering economic cost as well.

“The International Monetary Fund has calculated that COVID-19 will cause a total of at least $10 trillion losses in global output over the period 2020-2021, and accumulating to $22 trillion over the period 2020-2025,” the report notes.

With this in mind, researchers are recommending that people classifying as obese be added to the groups receiving priority for COVID vaccinations.

“An overweight population is an unhealthy population, and a pandemic waiting to happen,” study authors conclude.

Currently, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention count obesity among their list of underlying medical conditions which put a patient at severe risk from COVID. The other conditions include cancer, chronic kidney disease, COPD, Down Syndrome, heart disease, and weakened immune systems. Women who are pregnant, smokers, and those with diabetes are also at heightened risk.

Body fat absorbs vitamin D which denies vitamin D from regulatory support of the immune system. Fat piglets need to take more vitamin D and take their snouts out of the carbohydrate bowl.

Oh, and stop squealing about climate change and white privilege and pandemics. President Trump stopped funding the WHO. He was even smarter than he realized.

Fat piglets eh Matt? Does that include those obese through no fault of their own?

““An overweight population is an unhealthy population, and a pandemic waiting to happen,” study authors conclude.”
reports on PSI as well as other sites say the convid pandemic was fake, like others before it. That being the case, I take it the comment is nonsensical. Indeed, have a look at the site of the people writing the article.
They state “We do not agree nor disagree with any of the studies we post,” Yet, the link they gave, states firmly to the contrary:

Vaccinating will only accelerate their deaths. The vaccines degrade a persons immune system and make them more likely to develop medical problems. We are beginning to see hospitals filling up with fully vaccinated people experiencing all manner of breakthrough health issues.

The study claims to link Covid deaths to nations with high obesity but fails to mention those are the same nations with the highest GDP per capita. Being relatively rich they also happen to have the highest fatal injection rates making obesity a nice cover for the death shots.

Here in Italy, almost all Covid dead were aged over 80. Most had a selection of other problems, linked to obesity by difficulty of exercise, drinking and smoking, all possible if we have enough cash. Many were shut up in old folks’ homes and at high contagion risk, not least since personnel were initially allowed to come and go.
Countries with different age/wealth/work type/population density profiles will show completely different Covid results.

    Hi Howdy.
This is the second time you have been a little too precious in response to my comments. The first being my suggestion a certain individual should be banned from this site, which you eventually joined the common chorus of agreeing with.

Howdy “Does that include those obese through no fault of their own?”
Matt. During World War Two there were no overweight prisoners in concentration camps because of a genetic disposition. Science is to explain observation. It is common knowledge that overeating without burning off the extra energy leads to obesity.
So Howdy, you are saying the obese were forced to over eat right, the poor dears.

As for the rest of your garbage, it is common knowledge that zinc, multi-vitamins including at least 5,000 international units of D3 , ivermectin and stuff, helps people stay alive from the adverse effects from something, (spike proteins?) that has been causing blood clots etc.

I am currently working on loosing weight and do not have a problem being brutally honest with myself. It is called self effacing and is satire. You are still my mate Howdy, but could you lighten up please?
Oh, I reiterate, body fat absorbs vitamin D, thus depriving vitamin D from essential bodily functions. Make sure the piglets you know are informed of this if you give a damn.

    Thank you. Matt

“which you eventually joined the common chorus of agreeing with.”
As I was not a member of the club referring to him as “frank”, I do not believe so. As I recall, I got on with osiris better than most, but if what you say is true, show me.

Too precious? If you think so, then ok, but you attacked the unfortunate. If you think there is no such thing as obese without fault, then maybe you should avail yourself of the facts? Science is to explain observation, as you said.
    “During World War Two…”
    Irrelevant.

A for the rest of your garbage: “it is common knowledge that zinc, multi-vitamins including at least 5,000 international units of D3 , ivermectin and stuff, helps people stay alive from the adverse effects from something, (spike proteins?) that has been causing blood clots etc”.
Nothing to do with the issue at hand whatsoever. Also, no, you are not my mate, nor do i consider you one, nor need you as one.

“do not have a problem being brutally honest with myself”
Good, but you can’t say the same for other people you don’t know because you are not in possession of the facts.

“Oh, I reiterate, body fat absorbs vitamin D, thus depriving vitamin D from essential bodily functions”
So what. If one doesn’t purposefully cause the problem, one can not be held responsible, so not applicable in these circumstances. Check it out.

I don’t need to lighten up, maybe others might think about what they say before they say it and no problem would ensue.

Oh, I don’t need your thanks either.

      Hi Howdy.

I see you have a dominant female gene. Also using the name of a person who has been removed from this site has a risk of conjuring that person back which is a blatant act of stupidity, path for the course i guess.

Here is a version of a beautiful song that is quite remarkable. Check the increase of the tempo with the development of lead break at the end. Joe Cocker, and The Association, did versions of this Loving Spoonful song written by John Sebastien. Oh and play it through some real speakers to get a real perspective.
