“I Told You This Would Happen”

The general collapse of the whole alarmist project includes, of course, the increasingly desperate back-peddling of politicians as their vision unravels and voters enrage

But another important part of it is EVs.

As Jo Nova just wrote:

“It’s been a crushing week for the EV industry as the bad news that has been brewing for months was laid bare in the quarterly reports.”

Oh dear. It is more reality.

Nova notes that:

“Volkswagen admitted orders are down a shocking 50 percent and they are sacking 2,000 jobs in the software division.

Ford posted an operating loss of $1.3 billion for the quarter – meaning they are losing $36,000 for every EV they sell. They face a ghastly full year loss of $4.5b, so not surprisingly, they are delaying battery plants, and plans to expand production.

All up they are now holding off on $12 billion in investments. The head of Mercedes-Benz described the market as ‘a pretty brutal space’….

Panasonic has slowed EV battery production … by 60 percent in Japan compared to the same quarter last year.

While its US plants were OK, profit forecasts of the whole energy division were down 15 percent and depended on US subsidies.”

There’s more where that came from, and Parker Gallant lists some of it in a piece entitled “Is the EV House of Cards Collapsing”.

And Heatmap Daily allowed that:

“It’s been a confusing and sometimes dismaying week of electric vehicle news.

Ford, GM, and Hertz are slowing their transitions to EV, and even Elon Musk sounds daunted by what’s coming.”

Oh, and credit to Akio Toyoda, the chairman and former CEO of Toyota, who saw it coming and has long been braving conventional wisdom and its slings and arrows by warning that EVs were overhyped.

He gets to say “Told you so” and he did: “People are finally seeing reality”.

We live in idiot times. There is no difference between EV’s being a good idea and a Bigfoot sighting.

If one is not impacted, one rarely takes notice of the bigger picture, or the truth. A repetitive constant in the time of Humanity.

The EV industry has not collapsed unless you think a 33% growth rate in 2023 means collapsing:

For the full year of 2023, we expect sales of 14 million EVs, growth of +33 % over 2022, with BEVs reaching 10 million units and PHEVs 4 million units. By the end of 2023 we expect 40 million EVs in operation, counting light vehicles, 70 % of which are BEVs and 30 % PHEVs.

If VW is losing $36,000 on every EV they produce, then I would say a 33% growth rate means their business model is collapsing at an even faster rate than before.

Every EV is subsidized at tune (average) of 27000 US dollars it is inferior to gasoline engine and
the only reason it “grows” is due to subsidy. So as every comment made by you this one is false as the others!

      Richard,
How many orders for electric vehicles in USA came from the Biden Administration purchasing new government vehicles and electric buses for cities? Most of the light truck vehicles are for the U.S. Postal Service.
Taxpayers get screwed by eco-retards, as usual.
      Please, do some informed homework?

      Hi Richard,
You say”we”. Are you in the electric car business and is that why you cling to the belief in the GHGT despite the evidence?

        Hi Herb,

Contrary to Richard’s denial, I believe he is prat of the educational establishment which has destroyed the USA public educational system beginning with John Dewey near the beginning of the 20th century. I read in his book that the purpose of schools is not to educate students but instead to socialize them.

If a reader doesn’t believe this; read his book. If you can still read with comprehension.

        Have a good day
