Geological Society of London to host heavily-biased conference

The formerly venerable Geological Society of London will host a virtual event in two weeks’ time, on 26-27th May 2021:
‘Climate Change in the Geological Record: What the geological record tells us about our past and future climate‘.
Geology being the most relevant, of all sciences, to climate change, this meeting is likely to attract mainstream-media attention.
Advertised as a ‘conference’ and a ‘symposium’ (implying a free and balanced exchange of ideas) …

… it is neither. Here are eight truths about this far-from-impartial event, showing it has been well and truly hijacked by Big Brother.
1. One of the event’s nine themes is ‘What is the role of geology in dealing with the climate emergency for a sustainable future’, i.e. a Geological Society foregone conclusion, with which I would estimate that hundreds of thousands, at least, of the world’s scientists disagree (though lamentably remaining silent, fearful for their livelihoods), is that a ‘climate emergency‘ indeed exists and is, by implication, man-made (CO2 emissions).
What kind of scientific symposium decides its conclusions in advance?

The “lead convener” is climate modeller Professor Dan Lunt (PhD Meteorology), University of Bristol geography (sic) department, whose personal webpage says: “Much of my work focuses on characterising Climate Sensitivity, the globally averaged increase in temperature due to a doubling of carbon dioxide. Associated with this I am a Lead Author on the forthcoming Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change sixth assessment report (IPCC AR6).”
Is it any wonder that the ‘conference’ programme (below) is so unbalanced?

… is a series of 30-minute anti-CO2 lectures by ten invited academic speakers, all of whom assume (sic) that global warming is ‘man-made’ (AGW), not Sun-driven. Guaranteeing bias, these ‘Sun-deniers’ have strong vested interests (career, salary, research grants, publication histories, reputations) in AGW being publically perceived to be correct.
4. None of the many geologists and astrophysicists who have shown beyond reasonable doubt that global warming is by our star, the Sun, not CO2, is speaking.
How many were invited? A list of CO2-defending eminent scientists (of all kinds) was deleted from Wikipedia in 2019 …

5. Interspersed with the ten main speakers are five invited ‘flash talks’ (10 minutes each) by PhD students and a post-doc, all of whom are of the CO2 greenhouse mindset (essential for their PhD funding).
6. One of the students, Rebecca Orrison, is a self-proclaimed climate activist and Extinction Rebellion member. Here’s an interview two weeks ago …
7. There are 21 uninvited presenters, some of whom (including me) reject the belief that CO2 is causing the current warming trend. Our 500-word abstracts, submitted weeks ago, were scrutinised and accepted. However, we only get 60-seconds (sic) each to speak, in pre-recorded ‘lightning talks’ bunched together in a 25-minute session at the end of the ‘conference’. In these talks we are allowed to urge listeners to visit our virtual ‘posters’, each of which is restricted to 10 slides, totalling less than 15MB.
In relation to the invited speakers, this policy verges on suppression of free speech.
Do the conference organisers aim to use the Geological Society’s name, still widely respected, for future political influence?
8. The ‘conference’ webpage (above) says: “This symposium is arranged in conjunction with the Geological Society’s scientific statement on climate change”. I critiqued that appallingly flawed December 2020 ‘scientific statement’ in January 2021…

What isn’t these days?
“global warming is by our star”
This is the crux of it all. The elites have to avoid this conversation at all costs. And that’s because the only thing they care about is “for a sustainable future”.
This statement refers to how they can continue to stay in power, doing the things they do. It has nothing to do with us or the planet.

Hi Roger and curious bystanders.
Thank you for the information and efforts you make Roger.
The timing of your brief presentations suggests that participants will be burnt out by then and would love to stay and listen but must get home.
My understanding is there was approximately 2,400 gigatons of non mountain snow more than the recent average during this last Northern Hemisphere winter. ( Danish Meteorological Institute ).
For curious bystanders, 2,400 gigatons is approximately 2,400 cubic kilometers. ( I hope that is correct ) That would definitely have lowered sea levels a smidgeon for the Northern winter and in many cases lead to glacier expansion. ( I presume )
Be wary if you see any stocks behind the curtains at the session. They may be intending to lock you in the stocks and throw CO2 infused rotten tomatoes at you for supporting integrity in science.
