When the government starts mandating anything, you know it’s the worst product or service you can get. In the practical world, EV’s are an Edsel.

Depreciation is the lest of the problem. All the current taxes will be transferred to EV, and if it gets big enough, the ICE will no longer be able to sustain the amount of extortion current drivers face, so that too will transfer, and then some. Expect a real sting, instead of the kid gloves as at present.
There are special EV handling precautions for emergency services meaning increased costs etc etc.
If your workplace uses electric vehicles, keep your own car well away.
