Be True to Yourself, Not Fashionable Climate ‘Science’

When we are true to ourselves, we make decisions that reflect our core values rather than trying to please others

This reduces stress, improves self-respect, and strengthens our relationships because we’re being genuine. Authenticity helps build a life that is meaningful and aligned.

Anyone who has studied climate for a few decades knows that not so long ago, the historical temperature series for the high latitude northern hemisphere showed warming to 1940, then cooling to at least 1970, then warming since.

The warming, cooling and warming have all been by at least two degrees Celsius making a mockery of the ‘net zero’ 1.5-degree Celsius target.

Yet most of this is denied, because it is unfashionable.

There is a an episode in the 16-part podcast series about the trial of Mark Steyn for defamation, bought on by the king of the climate science jokers, Michael Mann. Judith Curry (pictured above) is called to give evidence.

Asked about her credentials, she insists she is not a climate denier because, quoting from the transcript:

“Overruled. Dr. Curry, is it true? Are you a climate denier?

“Of course not. Calling me a climate denier was something that was initiated and perpetuated by Michael Mann. I, along with all other climate scientists, understand that the Earth’s temperature has been warming for about the past 150 years and that humans are contributing to that.

“It makes absolutely no sense to call a climate researcher a climate denier. Look, I’m an old school environmentalist. I love nature and work very hard to minimize my footprint on the planet.

“Our house has 28 solar panels, two Tesla power walls for battery storage. We drive an electric vehicle, and we have an electric heat pump and on-and-on it goes. In terms of travel, since February of 2020, this is the fourth airplane flight I’ve taken.

“None of them were international flights, so my climate footprint is much smaller than the jet-setting climate celebrities who are calling me a denier.”

Wow.

So, according to Curry, the climate has been warming for 150 years, and don’t you go travelling anywhere especially not on a jet plane to see the world or broaden your horizon.

I am proud to say I don’t have a single solar panel on my roof, nor a heat-pump nor a Tesla. I wish I could afford some overseas travel.

Then there is the king of electric cars, Elon Musk whose business model for Tesla is based around government subsidies, known as regulatory credits. For sure he is fashionable because of all of this, and very rich.

Tesla’s regulatory credits revenue for the last fiscal year (2024) was $2.76 billion. Regulatory credits are incentives given to automakers by the government for producing zero-emission vehicles—they are net zero at least according to their own fashionable criteria.

Tesla earns these credits for free, then sells surplus amounts to companies failing to meet emissions targets, generating nearly pure profit.

Wow.

Government mandates, of course, play into being fashionable, driving the adoption of electric vehicles. I just wonder, though, where it is all going to end-up, longer term.  For sure, it is not sustainable and now Donald Trump and Elon Musk are falling out over this subsidy, these regulatory credits.

Across at my new Substack — https://jennifermarohasy.substack.com —I am writing about some of these things, and even more about my new Theory of Climate Resilience.

More than anything else I am trying for authenticity, and to define how the climate really works. For sure, to simply claim climate change is natural is a cop out and to be against more carbon dioxide stupidity.

That is what the jokers are pushing for.  Atmospheric carbon dioxide levels are actually quite low, considering the history of planet Earth, and this gas (C02) along with water (H20) are fundamental to life.

To say that there has been global warming for 150 years is misleading. The record was much more complicated than this, before the rewriting of our climate history. The actual measurements show surprising resilience.
