NCAA: Athletes Who Had COVID Will Be Considered ‘Fully Vaccinated’

As ESPN reports, the NCAA’s COVID-19 Medical Advisory Group updated its definition of “fully vaccinated” to account for various new vaccinations, boosters, and immunity factors.

“Fully vaccinated individuals now include those within two months of receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, five months of receiving the Pfizer vaccine series or six months of receiving the Moderna vaccine series;” reports ESPN staff writer Jeff Borzello, “and individuals who are beyond the aforementioned timeline and have received the booster vaccine.”

But perhaps the biggest development came in the following line.

Individuals within 90 days of a documented COVID-19 infection fall within the equivalent of ‘fully vaccinated.’”

Natural Immunity Is Now Considered Fully Vaccinated by NCAA

In many parts of the world, including the United States, vaccine passports are required for travel.

Vaccine passports are morally dubious for several reasons, but they seem particularly unjust for people who’ve already had COVID-19, since they’ve already been exposed to the virus and have acquired natural immunity.

Some evidence, such as a medical study out of Israel published in October, suggests that people with natural immunity actually have more protection from COVID-19 than vaccinated individuals.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Director of the National Institutes of Health and the Chief Medical Advisor to the President, was recently asked on CNN about the Israeli study—specifically if people naturally infected with COVID-19 had a lower risk of contracting the virus than those who received the vaccine. He declined to give a clear answer.

“I don’t have a really firm answer for you on that,” Fauci said. “That’s something that we’re going to have to discuss regarding the durability of the response.”

Harvard Medical School professor Martin Kulldorff disagrees.

“Based on the solid evidence from the Israeli study, the Covid recovered have stronger and longer-lasting immunity against Covid disease than the vaccinated,” Kulldorff wrote. “Hence, there is no reason to prevent them from activities that are permitted to the vaccinated.”

Getting vaccinated after getting COVID-19 might provide additional protection.

“Recent research,” the Mayo Clinic says, “suggests that people who got COVID-19 in 2020 and then received mRNA vaccines produce very high levels of antibodies that are likely effective against current and, possibly, future variants. Some scientists call this hybrid immunity.”

Kulldorff is right, however, that it is unnecessary and indeed discriminatory to treat people with natural immunity differently than those who’ve been vaccinated. (Vaccine passports themselves are morally dubious, as noted above, since they deprive individuals of fundamental freedoms.)

Moreover, Kulldorff says the NCAA’s decision to consider those who’ve had COVID “fully vaccinated” for just three months—a smaller window than those who’ve received the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines—is strange since evidence indicates that natural immunity offers stronger protections against COVID than the vaccines.

“It is good that the NCAA recognizes natural immunity for those who have recovered from Covid, but, since natural immunity is stronger and longer lasting than vaccine induced immunity, there are no public health reasons to only acknowledge it for three months after infection,” Kulldorff, an epidemiologist and biostatistician who has studied infectious disease outbreaks for years, told me in an email.

Still, while Dr. Fauci may not have made up his mind on natural immunity yet, it’s clear that other organizations are reaching their own conclusions as the federal government’s clumsy attempts to contain COVID-19 continue to fail.

“The omicron variant has presented another surge of cases across the country,” NCAA chief medical officer Brian Hainline said. “Given how the pandemic continues to evolve, it’s important that staff on member campuses continue to work with their local and state health officials on protocols most suitable for their locations.”

It’s unclear precisely what Hainline meant with these comments, but his use of the terms “local and state-health officials” may reflect President Biden’s recent admission that “there’s no federal solution” to the pandemic.

This would certainly be a step in the right direction.

But the real epiphany will be when they realize the heavy hand of the state has only made the pandemic worse.

no one anywhere in the world is “vaccinated” against “covid”. What ever flu strain this has been will continue to exist until the world ceases to exist. Get up get out out get over it.

The covid vaccine has killed more than the smallpox vaccine did-

“But all the vaccines that we use today are the result of modern technology. That’s not true of the smallpox vaccine. It has a side effect profile that we, we would not accept for vaccines today….. And the smallpox vaccine is deadly, too. Scientists call it the most dangerous vaccine known to man” –

Small pox killed 30% of the population, covid killed around 0.1-0.5% and yet here we are using a vaccine more dangerous than the smallpox vaccine.

Hi Fellows and other PSI Readers,

“Recent research,” the Mayo Clinic says, “suggests that people who got COVID-19 in 2020 and then received mRNA vaccines produce very high levels of antibodies that are likely effective against current and, possibly, future variants. Some scientists call this hybrid immunity.”

First, Mayo Clinic cannot speak. Second, when did M.D.’s become SCIENTISTS? Even biologists can not practice medicine and I am a physical scientists who does not claim to know anything about vaccines except that which Mayo Clinic says.

Hi Jerry and other PSI Readers,
I can confirm that MD’s aren’t scientist — from my personal perspective, to be specific.
Further, most MD’s are paid agents of the bIG pHARMA and all the other agencies of the “allopathic medicine,” regardless of their intentions when entering the medical school.
It is a very disturbing reality — see the other article on “trusting your MD.”
      Cheers, JaKo

Hi JaKo and other PSI Readers,

“The only source of knowledge is experience.” (Einstein)

Here is my personal experience with two MD’s relative to a plantar wart I had on the ball of my foot. Plantar warts are small growths that usually appear on the heels or other weight-bearing areas of your feet. This pressure may also cause plantar warts to grow inward beneath a hard, thick layer of skin (callus). Plantar warts are caused by HPV. A critical part (I learned) of this definition is: “grow inward beneath a hard, thick layer of skin (callus)”.

Each inspected it and told me it was not a plantar wart. One was a surgeon who even took his knife to pare its down so so he and I could see the tiny blood ‘veins’ about which I had read. But he still told me it was not a wart. Why did he do this??? My answer: Because he knew of no way to get permanently rid of the plantar wart.

I finally went to a Podiatrist who told me that it was a plantar wart and we tried his acid treatment of it. Which he said would case pain. The first treatment did not cause much pain and certainly did not remove the pain that one feels when there is a small pebble under the ball of one’s foot. So, when I reported this he gave me a clearly more intense treatment for I could wear a shoe for the intense pain. But after the treatment pain ceased there was no pain due to the plantar wart. Except, after a few months the plantar wart returned and the pain it caused returned. Which is evidence that the medical profession did not know how to permanently get rid of planar warts.

But I had a student in my chemistry class whose father had been a MD and his painless treatment was a layer of onion placed over the wart. And after a couple of days I could see the tissue of the wart crumbling away and the pain caused by the wart went away. But the pain came back because I did not continue the treatment long enough. Which I proved by continuing the treatment much longer and the wart has never come back after several decades. I conclude the long treatment was necessary to get to the bottom of the inward growing wart.

I read that the #1 home treatment is now duct tape. However I do not accept the explanation given for its effectiveness for it is physical and not chemical. For I have been told there was some chemical in onions which had an anti-viral property. And I read that the active ingredient in a commercial wart removal product is salicylic acid.

Which brings us to the controversial TREATMENT of the COVID VIRUSES. Yes, I ramble but I believe sometimes I get there.

      Have a good day, Jerry
