EU Executive Claims Europe Will Warm By Four Degrees

On October 27th, the website Rapporteur claimed Europe will become four degrees warmer, but didn’t say when it would happen

The article states:

Europe must prepare for a rapidly warming continent, the EU executive said in a proposed first-ever climate adaptation law that would require EU countries to draft plans for coping with four degrees of warming in Europe.

For years, the EU has focused its efforts on combatting climate change rather than dealing with its effects. ‘Adaptation’ to global warming, which hits Europe harder than other regions, has mostly been relegated to strategies and plans spread across multiple laws.

Going forward, the bloc wants to hone in on a single worst-case scenario in its preparations.

“We must prepare for the impacts of climate change, which are neither fair nor equally distributed,” said Teresa Ribera, the Commission executive vice-president responsible for the green transition. “We propose using a common global warming trajectory to assess risks and prepare for the future,” she added.

The world is on track for three degrees of warming compared to pre-industrial levels by 2100, the EU executive said – which translates to Europe growing four degrees hotter, according to the bloc’s climate advisors.

National capitals would be legally obliged to plan for this scenario by 2030 following a risk assessment by the Commission by 2028, Brussels said. The bloc would monitor their progress through the European Semester every two years.

“Climate change is not a hoax. Climate change is not only real; it is also a powerful killer. It is also destroying wealth and infrastructure,” Ribera told reporters in Brussels.

The Commission also wants to shift the focus from managing damage after a disaster to preventing it.

“Last summer may have been one of the hottest or the hottest on record, but it will be in all likelihood the coolest for years to come,” warned EU Climate Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra.

More than 700,000 hectares of land were burnt across the EU in 2026, following a summer of record-breaking heatwaves and droughts.

“Heat-related illnesses claimed more than 35,000 lives in Europe alone,” Hoekstra said.

The EU will continue to cut emissions, focusing on limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees, but the “new normal”, as Hoekstra put it, means the Commission must also focus on adaptation.

In the coming months, the Commission will also present non-binding proposals, including a European Heatwave Plan and a new European Water Initiative, to guide EU countries on measures they can take to better cope with future summers.

To provide further evidence, the Commission plans to publish, by 2030, statistics on deaths and economic losses attributable to climate change.

You can attribute whatever effect to whatever cause, but that does not make it either science or fact.

In my view, attribution is no better than consensus, and neither should have any place in science, but you can bet this nonsense will be repeated by anyone gullible enough to believe it.

Teresa Ribera is right about one thing; that ‘climate change’ is not a hoax. A hoax is something done for a laugh, like Piltdown Man.

This is a scam; a deliberately-orchestrated deception.
