3000 Tractors Blockade Brussels Against Globalist Agenda

Fires burned off in the distance, as thousands of tractors filled the streets of Brussels. The farmers are fighting back against the globalist “green agenda” that is threatening their very way of life

The grassroots effort started in Belgium’s northern region of Flanders.

Thousand of farmers drove their tractors into the bustling streets of Brussels on Friday to protest against a government plan to limit nitrogen emissions.

Local police say the number of tractors clogging the streets reached nearly 3,000.

Many of the farmers decked out their tractors with signs. One sign in particular said it all: “Proud to be a farmer.”

Reuters reported:

Agricultural organisations said in a joint statement that the nitrogen agreement as it now stands “will cause socio-economic carnage”. They wanted the agreement to better reflect future prospects for the farm sector.

“We are all convinced that something has to change nitrogen-wise, but the agricultural sector should not be treated differently to the industrial sector”, protester Leen Engelen said, referring to one of the disputed points in the draft bill.

Many who came to protest in Brussels on Friday feel the same way.

“Our sector is already making a lot of effort and is willing to do so as well, but (the government) expects more and more from us while the industry sector is also expanding”, said Liesje Van Loon, who owns a goat farm.

The video of the protest event is quite impressive. You can hear some kind of explosion occur and even see a large plume of black smoke off in the distance, as rows of tractors take over the streets.

Meanwhile, over in the Netherlands, farmers are flat-out refusing to cooperate with the governments “green agenda” on limiting nitrogen emissions.

Much like Belgium, this move would destroy the entire industry… and that’s probably the point.

Editor’s note: all this concern over nitrogen ’emissions’ is baffling. Do people seriously not know 78 percent of our atmosphere is nitrogen?

    Hi PSI Readers,

“Editor’s note: all this concern over nitrogen ’emissions’ is baffling. Do people seriously not know 78 percent of our atmosphere is nitrogen?”

I, a former farmer and a present chemist, after reading this article have no idea what these “nitrogen emissions” actually are. Someone must find and define precisely, for us PSI readers, what they are clearly claimed to be. Then I realized that this somebody could be me.

I found “Feb 6, 2023 — The United States had the highest nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions of OECD countries in 2020, at 7.24 million metric tons.” (Statista https://www.statista.com)

Most all automobile with internal combustion engines has a catalytic converter which converts the nitrogen oxide molecules, in the exhaust, formed in high pressures of the oxygen gases and nitrogen gases in the engines’ cylinders during the combustion process back to nitrogen gas and oxygen gas. In diesel engines the pressures and temperatures are even greater than that of gasoline engines.

So many lazy authors do not write carbon dioxide, or nitrogen oxides, instead they write carbon and nitrogen as if they all are the same things.

I don’t know the technological problems, or cost, of doing this for diesel exhausts but relative to the farmers problems I know the reason it should not be a significant environmental problem, like it was in the big cities ofthe USA. For the number of automobiles, concentrated in the cities, in these cities during the morning and evening rush-hours 5 days a week, most weeks of the year are far, far greater than the numbers of farm tractors not concentrated anywhere. And the big tractors one sees in the photo are only used during the short planting and harvesting seasons of modern agriculture where about 2% of the population grows the food that the other 98% eat.

So civil disobedience is the only way this 2% has to make this point that the 98% are too stupid to simply understand.

    Have a good day

As of today, the Netherlands is Europe’s largest exporter of meat and the world’s second largest exporter of agricultural products, marginally overtaken by the United States.
This also tells us how much a small country like the Netherlands can produce.
In June 2022, Prime Minister Mark Rutte (Netherlands) announced his “green plans” for reduced emissions of nitrogen oxides and ammonia, and then there were protests. The same thing is happening in Belgium now.
But this mainly concerns a reduction of up to 70-80% use of artificial fertiliser, not a transition to electric tractors. These proposals, if introduced, will kill large parts of Europe’s food production, especially northern Europe. Strong reduction of water consumption is also proposed, this will kill food production in southern parts of Europe.
When one imagines that the earth must be saved from a climate crisis, stronger and stronger regulations will be necessary. We have to accept all of this if we are to save the world. It must be nice to be a politician when you go around thinking you are saving the world from a disaster.
