Antivaxxer, Conspiracy theorist, covid denier or any other derogation that quashes open debate are “gas-lighting” terms.
“Gas-lighters” seek to win arguments with zero substance.
Parasitic “gas-lighters” commonly take positions of authority.
“Gas-lighting” is the modus operandi of msm institutions such as BBC.

People “want” to believe authorities … we were brought up to listen and obey (“Listen to your teacher … the boss… the policeman…. the politician… the talking head on TV…. etc”) The internet has brought more voices and different view points into our lives BUT most people do not know how to react or evaluate that information … This Gentleman has presented a quiet and reasoned and intelligent argument but powers that want to stay in control for their own selfish reasons will try to strike down his words with loud shouts … (thank you Dev for your word “gaslighters”) …

I was brought up to listen to the voices of authority, to listen to the voices of others, and to use my own God given wits. I was never brought up to obey – not even to obey God. I was brought up that way because my parents were brought up that way and passed that on. I suspect that started to change when “parenting” became a village thing and women entered the workforce out of necessity in order for the family to survive. It was at that time “parenting” was transferred to the already “woke” teachers, and the road to hell was greased. Values come from those that a child respects, primarily. When there is no one to respect at home – because they are not there – that gets transferred to those that seem to care, and then obedience can be taught better, since it becomes a “village thing,” not a “home thing.” People don’t “want” to believe authority, they are trained to because of the transfer of “parenting” from the home to the village.
