Video: Runaway EV Driver Recounts Terrifying Ordeal
UK driver involved in a runaway Jaguar EV – speeding at 120 miles per hour – gives a frank interview in a live video. This crash was the SECOND TIME this driver had his Jaguar car run out of control.
Speaking on the Youtube channel, Geoff Buys Cars, the driver, called Nathan, said:
” I felt like I was going to cry like yeah that’s how crazy it was I literally thought like any minute I’m gonna end up crashing – I’m going to hit the barrier or I’m going to crash into this car this police car.”
The driver explained his panic and helplessness and feared he would crash into someone and kill them.

A terrified Nathan continued:
“It still hasn’t properly sunk in yeah still – still – really, really. I, I don’t know how to explain it just it just feels that weird so. This is the second time this has happened – it happened in December just before Christmas.”
The incident occurred on the motorway near the Trafford Centre, Manchester and the vehicle identified as s Jaguar ipace. Incredibly, the driver reported that he has had TWO experiences of the same Jaguar EV running out of control, posing a danger to himself and other road users. Despite the EV being repaired after the first incident.

The nightmare chillingly returned a second time. But for some reason this detail was not reported by the BBC.

The incident lasted for over 20 minutes with the driver on his phone desperate to have police officers advise him how to deactivate the vehicle, which is not fitted with a standard brake pedal or lever and operates solely by buttons.
The driver told police that the button was stuck, and he could not operate it as it took the EV to terrifying speed in excess of one hundred miles per hour.
It took several police vehicle responders to surround the runaway EV with tactical police stop manoeuvre on the motorway. Jaguar Land Rover said the company was investigating as a matter of “urgency”.

The technology is in it’s infancy, as such, there are certain failsafe safeguards that need to be included. They won’t be, because it would show the tech for what it is. Not ready for mass consumption.
As backward as it sounds, the speeds should be restricted, and the power, certainly so. It is supposed to be saving the planet, not wasting it at an accelerated rate with dragstrip performance figures.
Mainly toys for the children with lots of pocket money. The manufacturers are the lowest of all.

This story is a blatant lie at worst, or has serious omissions of fact at best! There are NO passenger vehicles made or certified anywhere that do not have hydraulic brakes, and both a brake pedal and accelerator pedal! All EV’s have the same hydraulically operated brakes on each wheel as do ICE vehicles. They have rotors, brake pads, calipers, brake lines, a master cylinder which is mechanically connected to the brake pedal, plus some sort of brake force “boost” system (i.e. power brakes) I have personally changed brake pads on several EV’s!!!
The I-Pace also has both a brake pedal and an accelerator pedal.

Now can these monstrosities have a runway acceleration? YES. Can the hydraulic brakes overcome the traction motor(s) – normally YES. However, on a fully electric vehicle the brake boost system is a separate vacuum or hydraulic boost pump, which if that fails, you only have the mechanical advantage of the pedal pushing the piston in the master cylinder – which may not be enough to overcome a runaway traction motor.
If you have ever experienced a failed brake booster in an ICE vehicle, you need massive, hulk like leg strength to stop. Typically a booster multiplies your leg force on the pedal by 5-10 times, so loss of brake boost can be problematic in ANY car, irrespective of whether fueled or electric.
So this story has been sensationalized by omitting facts or just making sh*t up! And I personally believe EV’s are stupid, wasteful and merely toys to express some virtue signalling. But get your facts straight before sensationalizing gibberish! Push buttons instead of pedals is utter nonsense!

I stopped at the sound of a YOUNG MAN saying he “felt like he was gonna cry”. Combined with him being in a very expensive car he clearly cannot drive, and no ability to turn the key to OFF. Mummy wasn’t there and the nanny state had to be called in and all this will point squarely to the next headline which will likely read “should humans be allowed to drive at all, would AI run driverless cars be SAFER!!!”, followed by, “before ELON MUSK normal humans used to drive for decades, but ELON MUSK thinks that was TOO RISKY so should humans be allowed even to leave their houses?, BILL GATES SAYS humans would do better staying in their pods and letting AI and ROBOTS take care of the dangerous things like leaving your front door”.
