Van Morrison Releases Three Protest Songs Against Lockdown
The successful singer is releasing new tracks as he campaigns for live venues to operate with full audiences. His three new tracks are in response to the ongoing and insane UK government lockdown restrictions.
Born To Be Free, As I Walked Out, and No More Lockdown are songs of protest which question the measures the Government has put in place. Morrison (photo above, with Bob Dylan) makes it clear in his new songs how unhappy he is with the way the Government has taken away personal freedoms.
Politicians from his birthplace in Ireland were quick to attack Van Morrison as a”covidiot” and there have been calls in Belfast for Belfast City Council to revoke his Freedom of the City honor.
Speaking out against the heavy-handed and anti-civil liberties approach during the COVID-19 pandemic, Morrison criticized the face diapers (nappies) and social distancing saying, “Come forward, stand up, fight the pseudo-science and speak up.”
Morrison says;
The singer-songwriter, who is campaigning for performance venues to open at full capacity again, feels strongly that lockdown is in danger of killing live music. Without a date for reopening fully in 2020, many venues will shut down for good.
The three tracks will be available for download and streaming only from selected outlets.
Born To Be Free is released on Friday September 25
As I Walked Out is released on Friday October 9
No More Lockdown is released on Friday October 23
Live music was banned completely when the lockdown was imposed in March. It has been possible for indoor live music performances to take place with socially distanced audiences since August 1. But very few gigs have taken place in the UK and most venues remain shut.
Morrison will debut the new tracks later this month at his upcoming shows in the London Palladium. Morrison has received several major music awards in his career, including two Grammy Awards, inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (January 1993), and a Brit Award (February 1994). In addition he has received civil awards: an OBE (June 1996) and an Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (1996). He has honorary doctorates from the University of Ulster (1992) and from Queen’s University Belfast (July 2001).

Some aging rock stars don’t always end up the way the Left wants.
“It’s about freedom of choice, I believe people should have the right to think for themselves.”
Power on, Van!
