UNESCO Right For NOT Declaring Great Barrier Reef Endangered

Last year, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee decided NOT to officially declare the Great Barrier Reef (GBR) as being “in danger.”

Greenpeace Australia was furious, calling the decision “a missed opportunity to shine a light on the Australian Government’s neglect of a natural wonder that remains at great risk due to the impacts of climate change.”

Greenpeace Australia Pacific CEO David Ritter even said:

“Under the UNESCO treaty, the Australian government promised the world it would do its utmost to protect the Reef – instead, it has done its utmost to hide the truth.”

But it is Greenpeace and their allies who are hiding the truth about the health of the GBR. In reality, the reef is doing better than ever, and nothing is happening that is out of the norm for the ecology of this magnificent structure.

To explain why activists are wrong and to help us understand this, one of the world’s true natural wonders, we invited Dr. Peter Ridd, a geophysicist with over 100 publications and 35 years of experience working on the GBR, to be our guest this week.

Dr. Ridd works on the physical oceanography of the reef and has also developed a wide range of world-first optical and electronic instruments for measuring environmental conditions near corals and other ecosystems.

Dr. Ridd was head of Physics at James Cook University for over a decade before being fired, in 2018, for questioning the quality assurance systems used by reef science institutions.

Some of the poor-quality work relates to the effect, or lack of effect, of ‘climate change’, and agriculture, on the reef.

Dr. Ridd now works with agricultural organizations to improve quality assurance systems of the so-called science used by Australian governments to make environmental laws and regulations that seriously affect farmers.

He has authored the book Reef Heresy? which looks at all the threats to the GBR and discusses the broader problem of abysmal quality assurance systems used in many research fields.

For a wonderful journey “down under” to learn about this magnificent structure, join us this week to learn what climate activists hope you never find out!
