Twenty Republican governors tell Biden to cease hostility toward oil and gas
At a press conference outside a refinery in his state, Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry said that no one knows more about the needs of Americans than governors who “don’t live inside of a beltway,” which is “out of touch with America.”
A letter by the governors points to a number of actions Biden has taken, which they say have harmed U.S. energy.
They include reducing the amount of federal acres for leasing, canceling the Keystone XL pipeline, pausing export permits for liquified natural gas, and prioritizing foreign energy over domestic production.
These actions, the governors argue, are a key driver of the inflation and high gasoline prices that are driving up the cost of living for Americans.
“From day one, President Biden has done nothing but attack American energy,” Landry said at the press conference, where he was joined by several of the letter’s signers.
The governors, in their letter, called for a pause on “rhetorical and regulatory hostility towards traditional energy” and for the Biden administration to allow free markets to create a homegrown, all-of-the-above energy strategy.
