On the third Monday of every January, Americans enjoy a national holiday in honor of a man who helped shape the 2nd half of the 20th century, and the nation’s history: Martin Luther King, Jr. So important was his contribution to American life that he’s only one of three people to have a national holiday in his honor – the other two being George Washington and Christopher Columbus.
Americans are routinely inundated with stories about Dr. King. What we won’t hear are many about Reverend King. Or the book that animated his life, and his father’s, too: The Bible.
