The scary truth about heavy metals in protein powders

Did you know that nearly 50 percent of protein powders tested in the U.S. contain unsafe levels of heavy metals — yet most brands don’t disclose it?

In this eye-opening episode, supplement industry insider Oliver Amdrup-Chamby pulls back the curtain on the lack of testing and transparency in the supplement world, explaining why even organic protein powders can have higher contamination levels.

We break down how to find the cleanest, safest protein, the problem with untested final products, and the bigger issues with supplement industry regulations. Plus, we dive into fish oil purity — another supplement category filled with misleading claims.

If you take supplements, this is one conversation you can’t afford to miss.

Women are aging worse than men today — here’s why

Women are told to eat less and move more, but what if that advice is actually making aging harder? Despite living longer than men, women are more likely to experience muscle loss, bone weakening, and metabolic slowdowns that leave them feeling tired, weak, and unwell.

In this episode, Dr. Mary Claire Haver, a board-certified OB-GYN and menopause expert, breaks down why traditional health advice is failing women and what really works — focusing on protein, strength training, and hormone balance to stay strong, energized, and vibrant at every stage of life. If you want to feel your best for decades to come, this is a must-listen!

Higher protein reduces odds of memory decline

A recent long-term study of nearly 80,000 adults found that eating more protein, especially when swapped for carbs, could help protect memory and mental sharpness as we age!

Replacing just five percent of daily calories from carbs with total protein lowered the risk of memory decline by 11 percent, with both animal and plant proteins showing benefits — animal protein lowered risk by 11 percent, and plant protein by 26 percent.

Replacing animal protein with plant protein dropped risk by 16%, though some of this benefit might be due to “healthy user bias,” as plant eaters often make other health-conscious choices, like eating more fiber.

The takeaway? Including high-quality proteins — whether plant or animal, like beans, fish, lean red meat, or poultry — while cutting back on carbs may support brain health over time! Read the study here.

The hidden chemicals lurking in tap water — and what to do

Clean drinking water is one of the most fundamental pillars of good health, yet in the US, tap water can contain a cocktail of contaminants, including PFAS (forever chemicals), chlorine byproducts, heavy metals like lead, and even pharmaceutical residues.

Research has linked exposure to these chemicals to hormonal imbalances, increased cancer risk, and metabolic dysfunction, yet many people assume their water is safe simply because it meets regulatory standards — standards that often lag behind emerging science.

Fortunately, there are simple ways to improve water quality at home, including carbon filters like Brita or PUR, gravity-fed filters like Berkey, and even boiling water to remove some volatile compounds.

But for the most thorough filtration, you may consider a reverse osmosis system like AquaTru which removes hundreds of contaminants and leaves with you as close to pure H₂O as you can get with a home system.
