The Magic of Climate Science (Heavy Sarcasm alert)
Today we live in perilous times that are a result of mistakes that have been made in the past
The actions our ancestors took to provide us with a good life now, threaten not only our existence but the existence of the planet Earth. Every day we see stories of how man made climate change is causing devastation on the planet.
From record cold temperatures in the Antarctic to extreme heat the deserts, the warning signals are evident for those who search for them.
This evidence shows the increasing need for immediate action on our part to correct the consequences of our comfortable lives.
People are unaware or ignore the effects of ‘climate change’ and global warming will have on their lives. What would happen to a person raised in Germany if the climate became similar to Italy’s?
Wouldn’t the warmer weather cause hardships for those who depend on cold weather to make a living? Then there are the Italian farmers who depend on selling food to Germany, what happens to them when the warmer weather causes Germans to grow more food?
The demand for food decreases, prices drop, and soon the Italian farmers are facing financial ruin and starvation.
What will happen to our health? With more food the obesity problem becomes worse and the health problems associated with obesity increase. Warmer weather means people will spend more time outdoors which means more exposure to the sun and increased skin cancer. Will our health care system be able to cope with the consequences of the planet warming?
With warmer weather there is an increase in the evaporation water which results in an increase in rain. Farmers can deal with too little rain by using irrigation but face complete crop loss due to too much water. With more rain, comes more flooding and the destruction it brings. When there is an increase in water evaporation it also causes drought. Are the people of Oklahoma prepared to endure another dust bowl?
People must think about the severe consequences a 2C increase in temperature will have on their lives and begin to take action NOW in order to spare themselves of the horrific consequences that will result of non-action.
The most pressing need is for solutions to climate change due to the increase in greenhouse gases we are dumping into the atmosphere by our everyday actions. The only way to find this solution is by increased funding for climate science. Every dollar increase in funding now will save thousands of dollars in the future.
This peril of global warming was first identified in the 1870s by Svante Arrhenius, when the Earth began warming at the end of the little ice age. This prolonged cold spell had lasted for centuries causing crop failures, starvation, and hardships across the civilized world as a result of shorter growing seasons and the reduction of food production.
The little ice age was the result of a Grand Solar Minimum where the sun produced fewer sun spots and less energy was coming to the Earth. Svante speculated that the increases in temperature was a result of the industrial revolution putting more CO2 into the atmosphere and this increase in CO2 was preventing the Earth from losing heat into space.
An argument by Knut Angstrom, that the water in the atmosphere made CO2 irrelevant and experiments showing that CO2 had no effect on the Earth’s temperature caused Svante to retract his greenhouse gas theory and admit that it was wrong.
This retraction of the theory simply because it was untrue was a huge mistake and resulted in no action being taken to curtail the amount of CO2 being added to the atmosphere. This inaction has led to the dire situation we face today.
A new Grand Solar Minimum has now begun and it will last from fifty years to centuries. It is going to get cold and this is going to cause severe problems but we must not now stop our efforts to protect our planet from the long term threat of global warming just because of this temporary cooling.
At the end of the cool spell, whether it lasts for fifty years or three hundred years, in twelve years we will again face the threat of New York City being flooded due to the increasing warming which result from increases in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
It is true that at the end of the last full ice age there was a much more severe warming than the present warming, but back then man was dependent on and at the mercy of the conditions on the Earth. With modern technology we are able to produce energy to compensate for a reduction in energy from the sun and build structures that protect us from the environment but these “advances” have made us more vulnerable to climate change.
When it gets cold wind generators can freeze up and solar panels reduce their output depriving us of the needed energy to cope with the conditions. We must not be tempted to abandon our efforts to save the planet due to immediate conditions.
We must get by with less even as it cost more, if we have any hope of preserving our way of life and the planet.
We have advanced enough to know that when bad thing happen, like wild fires or three legged frogs, they are the result of our actions and not natural occurrences and since we are in control of the planet, we must accept the responsibility for when things go wrong.
It is our actions or inactions that are destroying the planet and we must use the wisdom we have gained to act or not act at the appropriate times.
A second crisis that is threatening us is the depletion of the ozone layer in the stratosphere, caused by chemicals created by us. This will lead to more ultraviolet radiation reaching the surface of the Earth and an increase in the adverse consequences that result from increased radiation.
The ozone layer is created when a free oxygen atom combines with an oxygen molecule. When these molecules are broken down into oxygen molecules, our protection is reduced. The ozone molecules are created when what we know as dark oxygen, absorbs ultraviolet energy (392,000 joules/mole or 122,000 joules/gram) and splits into oxygen atoms.
In climate science we have identified this dark oxygen (just as dark matter and dark energy in physics were created because the universe was not conducting itself according to accepted theories) because it doesn’t behave like other oxygen molecules in the atmosphere.
All climate scientists know that the oxygen, nitrogen, and argon, which make up 99.9 percent of the atmosphere, do not absorb visible or infrared radiation coming from the sun and therefore the atmosphere must be being heated by the surface of the Earth.
Physicists claim that the laws of thermodynamics demand that all matter absorb radiated energy but they study reality not the climate and climate science has nothing to do with reality.
In climate science the oxygen molecules, nitrogen molecules, and argon atoms in the atmosphere do not absorb radiated energy coming from the sun.
In the stratosphere it is the dark oxygen that absorbs the large amount of energy needed to create the ozone layer. These molecules now contain dark oxygen which causes them to behave differently than regular oxygen molecules. Just as dark matter is able to produce gravity but is undetectable dark oxygen’s existence is proven not by evidence but by its deviation from universally accepted theory..
The concentration of ozone in the ozone layer is 10 ppm or .000001 percent meaning the concentration of dark oxygen is 5 ppm (.0000005 percent). If you were to blacken one square centimeter on a 100,000 square pane of glass, the amount of light blocked from passing through the glass would not change significantly.
Because of dark oxygen in ozone a similar percentage of ozone in the stratosphere is able to block over 90 percent of the sun’s ultraviolet light from reaching the Earth’s surface. (In physics undetectable dark matter and dark energy make up over 95 percent of the universe so even they will agree that there is dark oxygen in the stratosphere.)
This enhanced ability of ozone to block ultraviolet light proves the existence of dark oxygen. One of the areas of climate science in desperate need of funding is my field of study, which I call “grey nitrogen”.
In the atmosphere, above the ozone layer, there exist molecules where dark oxygen atoms have combined with nitrogen molecules to form nitrogen-oxygen molecules. In order for this to happen one or two of the triple bond forming a grey nitrogen molecule must be broken by absorbing ultraviolet energy from the sun allowing for dark oxygenatoms to combine with the grey nitrogen molecule.
The reason this type of nitrogen is called grey nitrogen instead of dark nitrogen is because the energy being absorbed is not enough tosplit the molecule completely. It is able absorb radiated energy, unlike normal nitrogen molecules, but it cannot absorb the 950,000 joules/mole (350,000 joules/gram) necessary to split the molecule into nitrogen atoms.
Near the top of the atmosphere there is a layer consisting of dark oxygen atoms and helium but devoid of nitrogen. The molecules containing grey nitrogen remain too heavy to reach the top layers in the atmosphere. We need to discover what role these high energy nitrogen-oxygen molecules at the higher altitudes play in the climate we experience at the bottom of the atmosphere and that is the focus of my research (donations can be earmarked for particular areas of research).
Scientists have discovered that chemicals used for cooling are getting into the stratosphere, breaking down, and destroying the ozone in the ozone layer. This is surprising because these are very heavy molecules (argon with a molecular weight of 40 does not get into the stratosphere because it is too heavy) and extremely stable but the “ozone hole” that appears of the Antarctic during winter proves this destruction of the ozone by our manmade chemicals is happening.
During winter the reduction of sunlight means there is less ultraviolet light available to split dark oxygen and replenish ozone layer, which allows more ultraviolet radiation to reach the surface. The solution to this peril was not just to stop using air conditioning in Antarctica during the winter but also to replace the CFCs (Freon) with a less effective but more expensive chemical.
Decades after the banning CFCs the ozone hole still appears over Antarctic every winter and its size seems to increase and decrease independent of the amount of CFCs in the atmosphere. (Fortunately, because there is less ultraviolet light in winter the amount of ultraviolet light reaching the surface also decreases in the winter.)
Since the replacement of the Freon with other chemicals had no effect on the ozone hole they are now being replaced with a new chemical that is even less effective and more expensive.
In climate science less effectiveness and greater cost are signs of progress.
We must take action to overcome the consequences of past actions. It is our duty to try and save the planet for future generations.
If you are feeling comfortable you are neglecting your duty. The time of comfort and an easy life are gone if we hope to save the planet and preserve our way of life.
There is an urgent need for all people concerned about the peril we face to mobilize and irritate others (who do not see the danger) enough so they will become so annoyed that they will support us with donations or join our crusade.

Hi Jerry, I was the copyist of this article, and the editor’s note was my idea. In my opinion the whole article is sarcastic, but of course, others may differ in their understanding of sarcasm.

Hi Andy,
You asked: “Would that be a problem if it was John?”
If you cannot see the difference between John, the FOUNDING EDITOR of PSI, and yourself. You must be BLIND.
Have a good day

The articles submitted to John within note asking if the sarcasm was to obvious to make it work. He approved it.
It must be tough for you going through life having Mohave jokes explained to you and still not seeing any humor.
You can’t see the irony in “This is climate science it has nothing to do with reality.”, “This (the traction of the GHGT) just because it was untrue was a mistake.”, “there is lots of evidence if you search for it”. The title should have given you clue. “Magic of Climate Science” is an oxymoron. You are just a regular moron.

Hi Herb and Andy,
Some history. I discovered PSI on the USA Memorial Day—2016. And I made my first comment that day. And I began my too frequent habit of double posting this comment So I emailed John, the editor, asking him to correct my mistake and this began our email conversation. Eventually, I submitted an article titled “Why Supplement The Traditional Scientific Method With Karl Popper’s Ideas?”; which he published on June 15, 2016
This topic was and still is not too popular here at PSI and some of my future articles, which he published, were not popular with other founders of PSI so we (he and I, agreed it would be better if I find another website for my articles. Which I did as I continued to make comments at PSI and we continued to exchange emails.
For he was troubled with the fact that PSI was founded because its founders could NOT have their ideas published in established scientific journals. And he could not deny that he and the founders were censoring my ideas. So he decided that PSI would publish any article submitted and he and PSI has continued this policy since that time.
Have a good day
