The Covid wreckage no one will see

I spent two years reviewing the dreary results that any fool had to expect from the lockdowns and all the madness.

Some of those results had huge numbers behind them, like the masses in the developing world who would starve or slip into truly devastating poverty because of all this. Or the 75,000 estimated “deaths of despair” that would occur in the United States. I wrote a post called “Death by Lockdown” on my blog that chronicled as much of it as I could.

But there are other effects not so easy to quantify, devastating in their own way, that historians will have to remember to include.

Last week one of my readers sent me the following, and granted me permission to share it with you:

I write this tonight simply because I need to tell the story of a dear friend, for whom I am heartbroken.

We used to be so close. Went on trips, played games, and shared our deep hopes and fears with each other. I watched with joy as she fell in love and got married back in 2018. She was devoted to her husband, her faith, and her friends.

And then COVID happened.

We had planned to have a “girls’ night” at her house, but after seeing some stories about a crazy novel virus, we said we should postpone a week or two till things blow over. We never did have that “girls’ night”.

As hysteria took over, I saw it get its hooks in her. Depression. Anxiety. Anger when I and other friends of ours decided to start hanging out again before she thought it was “safe”. I managed to stay friends with her, but she drove every other one of our common friends away.

You have to understand, prior to all this craziness, she was one of the most friendly, kind, and bubbly people I knew. I don’t blame her. I blame the panic- it crushed her.

I tried to stay in touch, but there is only so much you can say when a person thinks you are endangering people by going outside your house. I got fired for refusing the vax, while she was still refusing to even be in the presence of anyone without the shot. How do you keep a friend with a schism like that?

And tonight, I found out that she and her husband are getting a divorce. Both devoted Christians who believe that marriage is for life, but they feel they cannot do anything else.

This is a cost that will never be measured, will never the subject of a research paper, that the people responsible will never even acknowledge. The lockdowns, the mania, the panic pushed by the governments and media organizations of the world have crushed my friend, and now her marriage.

What can one even say…

Who knows how many families were blown apart by state propaganda.

If anything like this happened to you, you are not alone.

If it didn’t, count your blessings and cherish that family of yours.

Now, before I wind up with something in my eye, here are a couple of happier items:
