Sudden Death Of Australian Helen Lobato

I can’t honestly remember when I first met Helen, but over the years I’ve known her, she has always been a patient, incredibly intelligent, and kind human being who cared deeply for others.

It had been several months since I last spoke with her, so it was a shock when I heard the other day that she had died so suddenly, just a short time after being diagnosed with a terminal condition.

Helen was all about family and often spoke of her children, grandchildren and sister with whom she often gardened. Spending time in her garden and being as self-sufficient as possible were important to her.

As a nurse, Helen’s knowledge of anatomy and human health led her to eventually question what she had been told about many medical procedures, including vaccination.

A voracious reader and researcher, the emergence of Gardasil, the so-called cancer vaccine, led her to write the excellent book Gardasil: Fast Tracked and Flawed.

I think it was after this book was published that I first met Helen, though we may have spoken on the phone or via email previously. I wish I could remember the circumstances of our meeting, but I can’t.

Helen introduced me to the amazing Joan Shenton, that rarest of raritiest – a true investigative journalist and producer of the series about those who had been seriously injured by Gardasil, Sacrificial Virgins.

The AVN took this film around Australia and Helen joined me for part of that tour. Joan Shenton was supposed to have flown out from the UK, but she was denied an entry VISA by our tyrannical Immigration Minister, who considered her information to be a threat to the Australian vaccination schedule.

Instead, Joan joined us at each event via Zoom and Helen and I were also available during the Q & A to answer audience questions.

Helen’s knowledge of this subject was voluminous. Her gentle manner set people at ease, allowing them to come to such a contentious issue as vaccination without ever getting people’s backs up or putting them off-side.

Joining the AVN Committee

Helen joined the AVN Committee when we first started working with the US VaxXed team to bring the vaccine-autism story around this country. She contributed greatly to the organisation and in fact, much of the writing in the Vaccine Info sections were written by and/or researched by her.

She also maintained the Under the Wire page of the AVN website, keeping my programme organised in ways that I wasn’t capable of – organisation not being one of my strong points. 🙏

In addition, she regularly attended community events and markets, setting up tables with books, videos and information – making herself available to answer questions and offer support to those who needed it.

Living in Victoria took its toll

During lockdowns, Helen found it very difficult to live in Melbourne but had no choice as her family and friends were there. She attended every protest, and I believe she was kettled at one of them, which was very traumatic for her.

But she never gave up – and most importantly – she never gave in.

I will miss you, Helen

I would like to express my sincerest condolences to Helen’s family, who I know were her true reason for being. They have lost a Mother, a Grandmother, a Sister, an Aunt and a friend.

I owe her a huge debt of gratitude because she was often a sympathetic ear for me when I was going through troubles of my own. She had a way of listening without judgement or anger, which is so rare.

I will miss her and wish I had spoken with her more and gotten to tell her how much she means to me.

Let that be a lesson to all of us – we never know how much time we have left.

Make sure we tell those around us that we love and care about them.

Fly high, Helen. Your legacy extends so far beyond your family, your State and Australia.

You have saved many with your information, your wisdom and your kind and caring spirit.
