Origins of this failed hypothesis have been falsely credited to Fourier and Tyndall, but neither had knowledge of the periodic table of elements or the electromagnetic spectrum, making these pedigree claims false. The original sorcerer was then Svantee Arrhenius, who published his CO2 warming hypothesis in Dec 1895. He was quickly proven wrong by nemesis, Knut Angstrom for not excluding Infrared absorbing water vapor.
Arrhenius reran the experiment in 1896 and was again proven wrong by Knut for using inaccurate lunar IR measurements made by Sammual Langley. Langley admitted his error in 1906 and Arrhenius quietly withdrew his warming claim.
In 1909, Stanford professor Robert Wood performed experiments on actual greenhouses, proving that even solid panes of glass were unable to trap IR energy, much less free moving, three atom gas molecules. This experiment was repeated by Dr Nasif Nahle and published at Principia Scientific [1]. Never let a crisis go to waste has a corollary, never let a useful LIE go to waste.
In June 1988, the historically hottest day in DC, the Goddard front man, James Hansen and his crew disabled the capital air conditioning system and staged a HEAT-IN hearing to promote Carbon hysteria. By 1990 the UN globalists had normalized this fraud with their first IPCC report.
An easily proven fraud would attract opposition, and to insure that the opposition to AGW would be ineffective, a government and NGO funded fake opposition was formed. Think of this as a Flat Earth vs Slightly Curved Earth fake debate. While the deep state Warmists claimed CO2 was the primary climate driver, the newly created Lukewarmists agreed on the false hypothesis of back radiation warming, existed, but CO2 was only a secondary player.
Independent scientists disagreed with both of the positions, and in Dec 2010 published Slaying the Sky Dragon. To my knowledge there has only been one public debate between the Warmists and Lukewarmists “No Loophole for Your Soul” at Canada Free Press. There has never a debate with any of the Sky Dragon NO Warmists. Dr Charles Anderson, in his SSD Chapter 20, “Do IR Absorbing Gases Warm or Cool Earth’s Surface” has Figure 2, Radiation Transmitted by the Atmosphere graph, which we will now examine in detail.
First note the graphic misrepresentations, the vertical axis says Spectral Intensity, a euphemism for Temperature, which has no graduations. The two separate curves do show incoming Top Of Atmosphere (TOA) as 5529 oKelvin and Earth’s Outgoing Longwqave Radiation (OLR) as 250oKelvin. Therefore, the OLR is amplified 20 times without disclosure. The horizontal axis is logarithmic, compressing the distance between the TOA and OLR.
The curved line on the TOA is the Planck hypothesis input, based on the Sun’s temperature. The shaded portion under the curve is the portion of sunlight that hits the Earth, the Total Solar Insolation (TSI) and is approximately 30 percent of TOA. We will examine the individual atmospheric gases, but first we must discuss the intentional misnomer of “absorption”. Wiki/Water_Absorption_Spectrum shows that H2O has 37,000 absorption lines and four vibrational modes.
When an EMR photon hits any water molecule at any of these vibrational frequencies, it imparts a minor amount of Kinetic Energy, and in a billionth of a second “emits” a longer wavelength, lower energy photon, COOLING the Earth. This KE is immediately shared with the non-absorbing, adjoining Nitrogen and Oxygen molecules and rises as a convective current through the atmosphere.
Water exists as a solid, liquid and gas on Earth and each change of phase involves a transfer of energy. Latent Heat of Solidification/Liquification involves 334 k-joules/kg of energy. Latent
Heat of Vaporization/Condensation involves 2,260 k-joules/kg transfer.
Wiki/Thunderstorms shows that the average thunderstorm is 20 km in diameter, weighs 15 x 108 kilograms (16,000 tons), and has 10 15 joules of energy. There are over 16 million average thunderstorms on Earth annually, over 1,800 at any moment. Water is a massive COOLING system for Earth. Now we will discuss the other “dangerous” warming gases, Carbon Dioxide and Methane.
Per Wien’s Law, every frequency has a distinct temperature. For CO2 the three absorption bands are at 2.7 microns (800 o C), at 4.3 microns (400 o C) and at 14.7 microns (-80 o C). The two absorption bands for Methane are 3.3 microns (600 o C) and 7.7 microns (104 o C). Since the hottest Earth temperature has been 56.7 o C, it is obvious that these gases can only resonate with incoming solar radiation, COOLING the Earth.
The CO2 14.7 micron OLR is in an area saturated by water molecule absorption, where H2O molecules outnumber CO2 molecules two thousand to one. Methane is 1.7 ppm in the atmosphere
and is only included in the fraud to further demonize Hydrocarbons.
In the last decade, I have been lectured in person by dozens of the top, claimed skeptics in rooms with hundred of fake skeptic believers. Other than the Slayers, there has been NO mention of these established facts on Radiation Physics and Thermodynamics. In 1482, Pope Sexus IV ordered the Inquisition and lead Inquisitor Torquemeda tortured and killed hundreds. A century after Columbus provided some evidence that the world might not be flat, Catholic thought police slow roasted heretic, Giordano Bruno for non geocentric thought crimes.
Today New Think is imposed by the monopoly new media, by the big tech oligarchy and by the institutional group think. FEMA camps are not just for the JAB hesitant, the highly trained medical experts that disagree, or the soccer moms who don’t want their kindergartners sexualized. Thought Crimes will soon include any objections to global warming, green energy, peak oil, Apollo, 9/11 and a myriad of other faux science and fake history subjects.
Which side of the FEMA fence will you be on ? I could have written volumes on the AGW fraud, provided hundreds of footnotes, but if you are a serious student you already understand much of this, or can easily research. I am only including one footnote on an easily understandable experiment on evidence recognized for over a century, and a partial list of my hundreds of articles.

The premise that because N2 and O2 do not absorb visible or IR radiation they are heated by the surface of the Earth is a violation of the laws of thermodynamics, which says all matter absorbs radiated energy. The two gases absorb 95% of the shorter, more energetic UV light and convert it to kinetic energy. (The 10 ppm ozone molecules in the ozone layer are not absorbing the UV but are created by the UV as the energy splits O2 into 2 oxygen atoms. The ozone “hole” is the result of too little UV in winter to create ozone. Above the stratosphere and ozone layer the oxygen atoms combine with the partially sly N2 molecules to form NO molecules).
In the troposphere the transfer of energy is done by conduction (collision of molecules) not radiation. These collision obey the law of conservation of momentum so energy flows from the molecule with greater velocity to the molecule with less velocity REGARDLESS OF THEIR MASSES. The energy transferred to a thermometer depends not only on the velocity of the molecule but the number of molecules (mass) transferring energy. In the troposphere, is the temperature decline with increasing altitude due to the lower velocity/energy of the molecules or to the decreasing density of the atmosphere? Since increase energy of the gas’s molecules will result in an expansion of the gas, the lower density with increasing altitude shows the gas molecules have increasing kinetic energy and the temperature decline is due to fewer molecules transferring energy to the thermometer. At the Grand Canyon the temperature at the bottom of the canyon is ten degrees hotter than at the top of the canyon. This cannot be from the molecules having more energy because that would result in them rising to the top of the canyon, but because there are more molecules transferring energy.
The GHGT is in violation of the laws of thermodynamics because the flow of energy is from the hotter molecules (heated by the sun) higher in the atmosphere to the molecules at lower altitudes. The reason cloudy nights are warmer than clear nights isn’t because the super cooled water droplets are reflecting heat back to the Earth’s surface but because there are many more hot molecules transferring energy to the Earth.

Your typical thunderstorm will produce energy comparable to an Hiroshima sized bomb….the storm of course may require an hour to produce energy the bomb produces in a fraction of a second. Thermometers are just instruments of measurement …like a clock….but no thermometer has measured the temp of the sun’s surface….its temp is calculated.

I’m not a climate expert, but I do have common sense. What contains our atmosphere causing 14.7 psi at sea level? If the laws of physics on earth are settled, and space is a vacuuum (I have questions about that idea) what is holding our atmosphere in? And don’t say gravity. I agree with Mr. Olsen that this GW fear peddling is complete nonsense, but can we really ignore the Creationist model which says there is a Firmament? The problem for governments with this model is it puts them all out of a job.

R. W. Wood explained it best in his Note on the Theory of the Greenhouse:
“Is it therefore necessary to pay attention to trapped radiation in deducing the temperature of a planet as affected by its atmosphere? The solar rays penetrate the atmosphere, warm the ground which in turn warms the atmosphere by contact and by convection currents. The heat received is thus stored up in the atmosphere, remaining there on account of the very low radiating power of a gas. It seems to me very doubtful if the atmosphere is warmed to any great extent by absorbing the radiation from the ground, even under the most favorable conditions.”

Hi Joseph and PSI Readers,
Joseph, when you reviewed the history of the greenhouse effect of atmospheric carbon dioxide you did not go back far enough. I discovered the existence of PSI because, at Joseph Postma’s blog site, Joe and his friend were having a discussion about Horace De Saussure’s Hot Box experiments before 1800. I am trying to keep my comments brief so I will only remark that Horace had tunnel vision and his only objective was to find its maximum interior temperature. So it seems he stopped observing after the interior had stopped cooling in the afternoon. So he never observed its minimum interior temperature shortly after sunrise after a cloudless nighttime. Or even at sunset when the interior temperature had rapidly cooled during the afternoon as the outside air temperature did not begin to cool until 4pm or later. For near sunset is when I, with my hot box, observed the greatest temperature difference between the warm exterior atmosphere and the cooled interior of the hot box. Proof that the glass did not prevent the cooling of the hot box’s interior.

In order to compensate for his own uselessness in the world, he needs to come up with a fictional ‘Dragon’ to slay. Cervantes wrote a book about this with Don Quixote…

By blaming it all on gases, about which we can do nothing, lots of lovely tax cash is available for (some) politicians and their favorites. But we can determine who the real politicians are: they ignore the alarmists and spend on real flood protection and similar projects, and on real supplies of energy that can be bought by the ton. They know that if there’s is a climate emergency, it’s for those who find their homes demolished or flooded today, not in thirty years time.

Fact 1: Remove the Earth’s atmosphere or just the GreenHouse Gases and the Earth becomes much like the Moon, no water vapor or clouds, no ice or snow, no oceans, no vegetation, a 10% albedo not 30%. A barren rock ball hot^3 (400 K) on the lit side, cold^3 (100 K) on the dark. At our distance from the Sun space is hot (394 K) not cold (5 K).
That’s NOT what the Radiative GreenHouse Effect theory says.

Hi Joseph and PSI Readers,
Joseph is absolutely correct that the idea of the atmospheric greenhouse effect of atmospheric carbon dioxide began with Svantee Arrhenius’s article published about 1896. Which article I have not written about lately.
In this article Arrhenius quantified the possible influence of the carbon dioxide upon upon the average measured atmospheric temperatures that had been measured, by that time, about 1.5 meter above the earth’s surface, at many weather stations about the world. And part of his analysis was the PREDICTION that he’ss calculated average of these measured temperature would be about 33C (using more recent data) lower if not for the carbon dioxide molecules in the atmosphere.
I capitalize the letters of PREDICTION because a fundamental condition of any SCIENTIFIC IDEA (THEORY) is a prediction of some unobserved FACT by which the IDEA could be TESTED.
Obviously it seems impossible to remove all the carbon dioxide molecules from the atmosphere to see what the atmospheric temperature would then be. So, the only alternative is to test this theory’s prediction by discovering unquestionable temperature measurements that these averaged measured atmospheric temperature could not be less. Like Galileo demonstrated that the idea that bodies ‘twice as heavy fell twice as fast’ was a wrong idea by dropping bodies of significantly different weights (masses) from high place and observing that both reached the ground below at nearly the same time.
Weather stations commonly report two temperatures of the atmosphere based upon measurements made at the same place (about 1.5 meter above the earth surface) and time. These two temperatures are the atmospheric (air) temperature and the atmospheric dew point (or frost point) temperature.
And it has never (unless some experimental error was involved) measured that the air temperature has ever been less than the dew point temperature. And it has to be accepted that the dew point temperature has nothing to do with atmospheric carbon dioxide. After WWII atmospheric soundings began to be routinely made during which air temperature and the air’s dew point temperature were measured. Again, the air temperature has never been measured to be less that of the air’s dew point or frost point temperature.
This is the simple, unquestionable, observed (measured) data (EVIDENCE) which proves the idea of the atmospheric greenhouse effect of atmospheric carbon dioxide is ABSOLUTELY WRONG!!!

That famous doctored graph actually proves that there can be no global warming caused by any atmospheric gases, because it shows a broad band between 8-13 microns where all of the surface radiation passes unhindered to the TOA. This corresponds to Planck black body radiation temperatures of -50C to +89C, which includes the normal range of Earth surface temperatures. Thus all that radiation passes through to the TOA untouched, what a joke. Methane’s wavelength is 7.7 microns.
There is a noticeable blip at about 8 microns labelled oxygen and ozone, but this corresponds to 89C (192F), outside the +50C normal temperature range. Ozone exists mainly in the stratosphere (above the troposphere or convection/weather zone which ends at 6 mi.). This trace absorption at 8 microns is dwarfed by the massive absorption at 0.24 microns, which is 11,800C. All this graph proves is that UV and oxygen help protect the Earth from solar flares and that the stratosphere is warmer than the troposphere, but even that’s theoretical because the air is so thin that astronauts would quickly freeze their faces if they took off their helmets.
