Russian Collusion & Cornering the Oil Market
“The Hill” reported in 2022 about Putin’s attempts going back several years to corner the energy market, especially for Europe and hoping to affect the U.S
He set about to fund the Anti-Fossil Fuel movement and the Anti-Everythings.
Here’s the story: thehill.com
One thing that slowed this plan a bit was U.S. light sweet shale oil (when we had a President with a brain). The Bakken and Marcellus formations.
More stuff on shale oil. These shale formations have kerogens. Type 1 kerogens are derived from algae. Type 2 kerogens are produced from planktic source. Negligible sulfur.
Light sweet crudes command a premium on the world market and are used across Europe and Japan. We use more heavy crude which contain sulfur (sour heavy crudes).
With our interstate highway system we need the asphalt. European nations and Japan are smaller and can build roads in concrete (the Autobahn).
Here’s some interesting commentary from Peter Hatgelakas, a pretty knowledgeable geologist & petrologist:
“The principal source and storage space in a shale is the kerogen. As kerogen releases methane molecules it leaves behind sponge like pore spaces which are occupied by what?
You guessed it — natural gas. And because gas is compressible, the volume can be tremendous. This is what makes a deep water marine shale a resource play.
The lateral regional extent of the deposit goes on for often hundreds of miles. There is no question of the presence of the deposit.
The only geologic complication that can arise is faulting and that associated natural fractures that compromise the deposit and seal depleting it.
There is another complication too involving something else I do not wish to divulge.”

They only want you off of oil. They are still going to use it all of the time.
