Now that the excitement has died down over the news that Earth’s surface temperature made 2017 one of the hottest years on record, it is time for sober second thoughts.

Did the January 18 announcement by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that 2017 was our planet’s third-hottest year since 1880, and NASA’s claim that it was the second hottest year, actually mean anything?

U.S. corn states have actually experienced slightly cooler summers since the mid-20th century, according to a new study documenting how the regions bucked the overall global warming trend.

Scientists with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) found the intensification of agriculture operations actually cooled Midwest regions from 1950 to 2009, showing the importance of local land-use in climatic changes.

Under the current theory for light, it is alleged to have both wavelike and particle-like properties, called the “wave-particle duality.”  One of the earliest experiments indicating the wavelike aspect was the “double-slit” experiment performed by Young in 1801 (graphic above).

At that time, it allegedly refuted Newton’s postulate of a particle nature to light in favor of light being purely a wave.  Not until the discovery of the photoelectric effect a century later did light’s potential behavior as a particle become rejuvenated.  This paper examines how the particle nature of light may be consistent with its wavelike behavior via analysis of the double-slit experiment from a particle perspective.

In 2007, University of Pennsylvania Professor J. Scott Armstrong challenged former U.S. Vice President Al Gore to a bet on what would happen to global average temperatures over the following 10 years.

Armstrong’s challenge was in response to Gore’s warning of a looming dangerous “tipping point” in global mean temperatures. His proposal of a $10,000 bet was intended to draw attention to the need to assess the predictive validity of climate forecasts in an objective manner. Armstrong issued his challenge based on the knowledge that predictions of dangerous global warming were the product of methods that violated 72 of 89 forecasting principles relevant to the forecasting problem.

I, an MIT alum, was just looking at MIT’s so-called Climate Action Plan, particularly its advisory committee, to see if there were any skeptical climate scientists on it — science that doesn’t allow a diversity of opinions is not science.

After 3-week trial Canadian judge dismisses all charges in the lawsuit brought against Dr. Tim Ball by British Columbia Green Party leader Andrew Weaver. Climate skeptics are hailing the verdict as a key victory over extremists promoting human-caused global warming. Not a peep from the mainstream media!

The rumor that Google has tuned its search algorithm to work against the skeptics of climate change alarmism appears to be true.

Searches on prominent skeptics systematically yield more negative attacks than positive information. This cannot be an accident. It may well be illegal, given Google’s deep financial interest in alarmism.

All explanations of interactions between photons, the alleged “particles” of which light consists, and other forms of matter particles rely on the Einsteinian assumption of a constant speed of light.  In particular are the classical phenomenon of Compton Scattering and one rejected by mainstream cosmology – “tired light.”

Both have been cited, rightly or wrongly, as alternative mechanisms to cosmic expansion to explain the cosmological red-shift that characterizes the alleged “expanding universe.”
