Open Letter to Dr. Reid – Director of National Center for Science Education

Dr. Reid, please understand that I am not a Biblical Creationist nor uneducated in the Sciences, but I do hold that there are unappreciated aspects of contemporary science which deserve consideration.
Besides my linked articles, perhaps you may wish to obtain a copy of “The Fourth Source. Effects of Natural Nuclear Reactors” by Robert J. Tuttle

Please do not dismiss the essay ‘Plate Climatology Theory Receives Boost’ developed in collaboration with John O’Sullivan simply because it is not published in a major technical journal.

I would highly advise that you peruse the link in my essay to nuclearplanet, with the discussion of the GeoReactor — providing the variable heating source within the planet plus the source of our current uptick in CO2.  The GeoReactor is a form of Soliton Breeder Reactor, operating in zero gravity.
Surface temperature measurements are really biased by the internal heat of the Earth. SABER satellite  observations in the upper atmosphere indicate a cooling trend. The amount of heat coming from within the Earth is still a topic of great debate. Monitoring of geoneutrinos only began quite recently and these observations may provide some insight but geoneutrinos are elusive subatomic particles.
The current debate over the 20 year “hiatus” in temperature rise is not trivial. Many sources on that topic.
The GeoReactor explains a great deal about Carbon 14 in the Earth’s biome.
The GeoReactor also explains the concentrated presence of Iron at the cores of all major planets. Through fission and radioactive decay, the “Curve of Binding Energies” leads to the stability point of Iron 56 — the “Iron Peak”.
Dr. J. Marvin Herndon and Dr. M.a. Padmanabha Rao are personal acquaintances. Unfortunately, they are much maligned.
“Fission tracks” are a logical explanation for the homochirality observed in biochemicals.
Work by the Deep Carbon Observatory and several others are bringing the fuller awareness of abiotic hydrocarbons due to serpentinization of mafic and ultramafic minerals, in combination with Fischer Tropsch reactions.
In the 1700s Mikhail Lomonosov observed peat bogs and incorrectly deduced that coal and hydrocarbons derived from such sources. He had no awareness of the vast quantities of hydrocarbons on other planets. Of course, methane is odorless and invisible so the term “swamp gas” came into usage.
The formation and internal processes of all planets are basically the same for the production of hydrocarbons as well as the Chthonian model for the four (4) rocky inner planets. Dr. Herndon uses the term “Whole Earth Decompression Dynamics”. Others describe the Earth’s evolution as Expansion Tectonics. In essence, the Earth unfolded as a flower blossom. The Gaia hypothesis by James Lovelock is quite apt.
In 2016, after years of prominence on the topic, James Lovelock turned his back on the alarm over man-made climate change, declaring climate alarmism as “not remotely scientific” and anyone who tries to “predict more than five to ten years is a bit of an idiot.”
In fact, all of the experiments or demonstrations on the properties of CO2 were conducted in enclosures. John Tyndall conducted his demonstration in a sealed tube. This is not an appropriate model for the Earth’s atmosphere. Rather, low cloud cover serves as a “blanket” spreading warm, moist water vapor along the surface – moderating surface temperatures – and cold, dry air above. As the Earth warms we have more evaporation and more cloud formation. It is all self-regulating within a nicely habitable range.
The Earth’s atmosphere is an Open System, not a Closed System, and it is not possible to obtain a heat and material balance in an Open System.
Earth is the water planet. All of the IPCC Assessment Reports state that water is the greatest heat trapping molecule but they ignore it for any calculation because humidity and cloud formation are incredibly unpredictable.

    Hi Richard,

Interesting article, but I believe you have assumed something not in evidence.

I learned a couple decades ago that many science educators do not consider themselves to be scientists. This because for awhile I was part of an NSF funded education project to identify at risk potential students in the Minnesota Community College Educational System. The problem was a general educational requirement of all students that they take at least a quarter of a science course which had a laboratory component and there were too many students who were not having success in these required courses in either chemistry, physics, or biology.

The students who took the biology generally were successful, so it was the physical science students who were not generally successful. I had as instructor of chemistry always considered myself to be a scientists. But in the course of working in this project, a physics instructor at a nearby community stated that he was not a scientist. Which surprised me and I asked: If you are not a scientist, what are you? His answer: I am a science educator.

Which got me thinking. The community college system provided funding, as a faculty development activity, for a one day, system wide, meeting of the departmental instructors. And the chemistry instructors took advantage of this. And after learning from this physic instructor that he was not a scientist I decided to poll the chemistry instructors at the next system wide meeting. The result was that only about 50% of the chemistry instructors claimed to be scientists. The other about 50% claimed only to be science educators!!!

    Have a good day, Jerry

Good to hear from you again, Jerry. Hope all is well for you and your
      Loved ones.

A usual, you are spot on.

I volunteer at Habitat for Humanity (the only good thing advanced by Jimmy Carter), and the most common sense and scientifically aware people I meet are independent construction contractors. Academia is filled with arrogant, unthinking SOBs.
