We might be ruled by idiots, but they only get away with it because we let them. I have been discussing with people I know the continued reference of the media about total deaths without relating them to the population size. The media generates nonsense such as the 500,000 million deaths in the USA makes it the worst for the virus, and deaths in the UK in 2020 were higher than the deaths in the Spanish flu pandemic in 1918/9. Both are true looking at the actual numbers but when the population size is taken into account, they are certainly not true. It seems impossible to get people to understand this simple concept so the believe the worst.
