Microplastics Found in Human Semen

We’ve known for a while that microplastics are everywhere, popping up in human blood and even breast milk

But now, recent research takes it to another level with the discovery of microplastics in human semen.

Yep, you read that right – semen. Sperm counts have been plummeting in men for years, and we wonder why!!

Well, turns out it might have something to do with microplastics wreaking absolute havoc on our reproductive systems.

A recent study evaluated semen samples from 36 men and found microplastics in every single one.

Every. Single. One.

So, what’s the big deal? Other recent studies in mice have shown that microplastics can reduce sperm count, disrupt hormones, and cause all sorts of abnormalities.

At the same time that we’re finding microplastics in semen, we’re also seeing a significant drop in sperm count and a rise in sperm abnormalities.

Coincidence? I think not.

There’s strong reason to believe these tiny plastic particles are causing BIG problems for human reproduction.

Microplastics are omnipresent, infiltrating our food, water, and even the air we breathe.

While avoiding every possible exposure might seem daunting, we can take simple steps to minimize risks, like ditching plastic water bottles and straws and avoiding heating and storing food in plastic containers.

While we can’t eliminate all exposures, prioritizing our health where we DO have control is crucial.
