Marques Brownlee Isn’t Telling You the Truth About Buying Solar, So I Have To
In this video, Scotty Kilmer goes over what solar panel companies aren’t telling you and why you shouldn’t install solar panels.
Almost all American have seen flyers or received calls from salespeople who are trying to sell you solar panels.
In fact, some eight percent of homeowners in America have already fallen for the bait and have installed solar panels, but there are some myths about solar panels that need to be busted.

I watched short of 5 minutes before I was stunned, by what I saw, mainly because it is a bit silly, and I don’t see Mr Kilmer as the right person.
Scotty Kilmer is best known to me as a car mechanic. My viewings of his comment section way back on youtube made up my mind years ago that his advice is best taken with a pinch of salt. Not even practicing basic mechanics stuff.
He’s was quick to condemn a commenters engine for example who was looking for advice, and without consideration, just suggested the most expensive option, which was, get a new one. Has he never heard of troubleshooting?
I have solar panels, and none of the claimed negatives have materialised. Molten roof?
Holes in the roof, or damaged tiles are a danger with any roof work if the guy doing the job is inept or clumsy. Sometimes, accidents happen.
Birds on the roof is kind of expected, because it’s a roof. They like guttering too because it’s easy for them to grip onto. I’ve never seen that put forward as a reason to remove guttering. It’s an easily solved issue without any drama.

At the 2:00 mark, he states that typical solar panels made today last 25-30 years. They also have diminishing returns, but the video didn’t mention it. The panels only produce 90% of their original output after 10 years. So, the amount you calculate as savings-per-year should also have descending graduation.
Magically, the panels on the Voyager have been running for 50 years and are still capable of providing adequate power to the CPU/board and the VLF/ELF TX/RX radio system. How? Magic.
The truth about solar panels is that they’re a scam. Diminishing returns means you won’t realize your savings for 20+ years.
You are damaging the roof; your insurance will eventually go up.
You will be charged with the upkeep and disposal of panels as required by your insurance.
They advertise the panels to you, subsidize them with your tax money, then screw you with the insurance for the next 30 years.
Always a cash cow when the government aids and abets the criminality using the people’s own tax money…right NASA???

Hi Wisenox,
The Voyager satellites are powered by nuclear reactors, not solar panels. The energy from sunlight is non-existent at those distances.

Well that makes sense?
