Manufacturer: Our Face Masks Mandated by UK Govt Useless for CV19
The same type of face masks that the UK government is mandating people wear in shops from July 24 onwards to protect against the spread of coronavirus specifically state on their packaging that they don’t protect against coronavirus.
Genius.
Earlier this week, the government confirmed that anyone caught not wearing a mask when entering a shop or supermarket will be subject to a police fine of £100, prompting the Chair of the London Metropolitan Police Foundation to complain that this would be totally unenforceable.
However, the law states that cloth masks, scarves, or other textile items that don’t require the use of hands to hold them in place are acceptable forms of protection against COVID-19.
One problem with that, the packaging on these kinds of cloth masks specifically states that they don’t protect against COVID-19.
“This product is an ear loop mask. This product is not a respirator and will not provide any protection against COVID-19 (coronavirus) or any other viruses or contaminants,” states the packaging on a standard set of cloth masks currently being sold.

Skeptics have also pointed out that people continually touching potentially infected masks and then touching surfaces could even exacerbate the spread of coronavirus.
“Apart from everything else, the only coverings the Government is insisting on are cloth ones, which every man and his dog knows are COMPLETELY USELESS,” writes Toby Young.
“As Allison Pearson says in her excellent comment piece in today’s Telegraph, “anything other than tight-fitting, surgical-grade masks are utterly pointless – like trying to stop a bullet with a chain-link fence”. I mean, the evidence that the gold-standard N95 masks are effective in non-healthcare settings is threadbare at best – and they have to be disposed of after a single use.”
“There is literally no evidence that re-usable cloth masks are effective in community settings. None. It’s like wearing a tinfoil hat in case you get struck by lightning – an ineffective way to protect yourself from an almost non-existent risk. What has become of us?”
Health Secretary Matt Hancock said mandating the wearing of masks would “give people more confidence to shop safely and enhance protections for those who work in shops,” however many have reacted to the law by asserting that they will simply avoid shops altogether.
This will lead to yet more economic devastation, more high street job losses, and in the longer term, more poverty and death.
Again, genius.

Well well, what a surprise!! The virus is smaller than the weave on most masks, so they are about as effective as tryng to stop insects with a chain-link fence.

Obviously the governments of Europe and the US are NOT following the ‘science’. Now it should take only one nanosecond to figure out masks will not work. Even a Class 1 clean room would experience some difficulty filtering viruses as they are extremely small. However we ignore the fact it is very expensive to remove particulate matter from air. The idea that a mask with a bidirectional flow of contaminate matter will prevent viruses is quite patently absurd. Are we to presuppose that masks magically prevent the virus because obviously they will not do it physically. This whole affair has been a scam and the evidence keeps showing this coronavirus is not nearly as dangerous as it is being promoted. After all many people are apparently ‘sick’ and do not even know!

Nobody has ever suggested otherwise. The masks are not there to protect the individual, they are used to reduce particulate spray from potentially infected individuals, thereby decreasing transmissivity of the virus. If everybody is infected, but you wear a mask, it will not help you. If everybody who is infected (knowingly or unknowingly) wears a mask, then it will decrease your chance of contracting the virus. Just like how a well vaccinated population decreases the opportunity for viruses to spread, thereby protecting the immunocompromised.

Who cares?
You still have Zero chance of getting ill let alone dying from the dreaded virus.
You seem to forget. The zombie apocalypse didn’t happen.

nearly 6 million have died from communicable diseases since Jan. it is a fact of life.
We don’t wear them in flu season which kills all ages.

Existing health conditions. It is a fact that Covid19 does not cause death, it causes other conditions which cause death. Most people who are dying will be dead soon anyway and therefore we will see future deaths reduced. It is not about average deaths; it is about the statistics over several years.

Are you referring to the old people who died due to government lockdowns and negligence?

The death pathway is well established.
iirc 16 Birmingham care homes inducted many elderly pre lockdown with financial incentives.
Last weds UKcolumn.org news elaborated on this

If they are knowingly infected, they should not be out of the house. When you talk about spray, I assume you mean coughing and sneezing, so again they should perhaps not be out, but there are people who may have coughs that are not related to the virus. Apparently, the flu jab only provides a 30-50% protection rate. There is no common sense and no evidence that mask provide. Where is the published research? The only paper I have seen was in the BMJ from a few years ago and it found no benefit

Yep, that’s the mantra, and you just repeated it as though it’s valid. But anyone who gives it a moment’s thought realises that a filter works both ways. And if it doesn’t work in one direction, it can’t work in the opposite direction either. Of course, if can serve as a magical talisman, then it can work both ways!

While not our only option, of of the types of masks furnished by my employer states explicitly on the box that death can occur if used to stop the spread of disease

It looks as if there are a few regulations in force regarding the quality of face masks to be used as a prophylactic against the dreaded virus.
So if they are to be regarded as a medicinal requirement against a disease, much like beta-blockers for HBP, should they not be available on prescription from the NHS? (free in Scotland!)
Or is your wife’s old bra EU certified as PPE?
This has gone from utter stupidity to ridiculous inanity. It is just another deflection to distract from the incompetence of lockdown policies.

It would be nice if ear loop masks protected us from the virus, but what does the following – stated by the manufacturer on the box – mean in relation to protection from anything in any form?
“… and will not provide any protection against Covid-19 or other viruses or contaminants. Wearing an ear loop mask does not reduce the risk of contracting any disease or infection.”

This may well be a LEGAL DISCLAIMER to discourage people from suing the mask MANUFACTURER should they contract COVID-19. ANY MEDICATION you take also has a host of DISCLAIMERS, SIDE EFFECTS, RISKS OF ILLNESS & OFTEN EVEN DEATH! People still take their “medication”. They USUALLY WORK at helping to control some illness or symptom, but they MAY have some side effect(s). 🙃

My daugther is working with such a mask all day long in a fruit cooperation sorting peaches and when she sneezes its all black in the handkerchief. I guess virioms and other pathogenes are quite smaller then that.

Masks are far from perfect, but they must do some good or doctors & nurses would not be wearing them for ~100 YEARS!?
THE BEST would be a scuba mask & air tank… but that will be expensive, tiresome & look ridiculous!
Or how about the moon suits Asian Healthcare Workers use near COVID-19 patients? What do they know that we don’t know?
☆ Taiwan, Hong Kong & Singapore have no vaccine. Their MORTALITY rates are: 7, 7, and 26!!!
They MUST WEAR MASKS OUTSIDE when “in public”.
South Korea had 282 COVID-19 Deaths.
They too MUST WEAR MASKS WHEN OUTSIDE IN PUBLIC.
I don’t like wearing masks, but EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE seems to indicate they must have some sort of beneficial effect since non mask wearing nations have way higher MORTALITY RATES than nations that do wear masks. At least in CLOSE PROXIMITY WITH OTHERS: <3m (~10ft).
I see it as COMMON COURTESY. Much like covering your mouth & nose, preferably with a tissue, while coughing or sneezing rather than broadcasting your germs unchecked into the air near other people. It is Basic Human DECENCY when in the presence of others.
Contrast this to Canada with 8,516 deaths, UK ~45,000 and the USA with 128,152 COVID-19 Deaths! (June 27, 2020.)
What are they doing BETTER?
3, 7, 15 meter RULE for Staying Alive & HEALTHY during COVID-19❣
Much like the:
“3, 7, 15 second RULE for Staying Alive on the Highway”.
Keep a SAFE DISTANCE then a mask is not required. When SAFE DISTANCING is not possible you should wear a mask as Common Courtesy & RESPECT for others.⚘
At HOME it should be FREE CHOICE. Much like smoking is now forbidden in Public Places. At HOME do as you please.⚘

Hi Rick,
If you read the articles by nurses and doctors they explain that the surgical masks they wear are not to prevent them from getting a disease from a patient but to stop them from putting contaminates on the patient. In the cases of infectious diseases they do wear special protective equipment.
In Wuhan the pollution is so bad that every one wears masks all the time. Where was their protection when this thing started?
The statistics you cite are not valid since in these countries they treated patients early, not waiting for them to get sick.
I suggest you read some of the articles in PSI on masks where studies and science are used to determine the effectiveness of wearing masks instead of cherry picking anecdotal evidence then spouting off making yourself look like an idiot.
