Jeremy Kuzmarov is the Managing Editor of CovertAction Magazine and a critic of US foreign policy and intelligence operations
The magazine has been around since the 1970s.
The CIA is both the centre and the primary instrument of the cult of intelligence. It engages in espionage and counter espionage, in propaganda and disinformation, in psychological warfare and paramilitary activities. — Victor Marchetti, former CIA officer
These [NSA] programmes were never about terrorism: they’re about economic spying, social control, and diplomatic manipulation. — Edward Snowden, NSA whistleblower
In his conversation with me, Jeremy talked about how the CIA and Pentagon have quietly moved into American universities, shaping what gets studied (and not studied.
He pointed out that around 50 universities are involved in ‘nuclear weapons research‘, which he argues is a sign of military influence, turning schools into extensions of the national security state.
This episode was recorded for my UK Column show, and the audio version is available on most major podcast platforms.
