Iceland Now Colder, Icier Than In Last 8,000 Years
A wealth of new research in glacier and sea ice extent shows modern Iceland is 2-4°C colder than all of the last 8,000 years except for a slightly colder late 19th century. Even the 1700s were warmer with less ice than today in and around Iceland.
A new study (Geirsdóttir et al., 2020) now affirms peak Holocene warmth at least “∼3–4 °C above modern in Iceland” prevailed throughout much of the last 8,000 years.
Data from tree growth, glacier-induced soil erosion, algae productivity, sea ice biomarker proxies (IP25), and other climate indices affirm these conclusions.
Harning et al., 2020 report an overall 7°C Holocene cooling trend In Iceland’s surrounding sea surface temperatures (SST).
“In terms of foraminifera-reconstructed SST, there is an overall trend of cooling throughout the last 8 ka from ~10 °C to ~3 °C.”
It is only in the last few centuries of the modern era that temperatures sharply plummeted to their lowest values of the last 10,000 years (Geirsdóttir et al., 2020).
“The coolest climate of the last 10 ka occurred in the late 1800s CE.”
Consequent to the peak cooling, glaciers and sea ice reached their maximum extents of the Holocene just 150 years ago.
While Iceland’s glaciers and North Shelf sea ice extent did partially recover in the first half of the 20th century, the ice extents are still beyond what they were in the 1700s and earlier.
There is nothing to indicate modern warmth or ice recession in and around Iceland is unprecedented or even unusual.

The same Zionist elite that have been pushing the global warming scam are now behind the fake virus. All Gore (daughter is married to Jacob Schiff’s great grandson) and co. have been telling us for over 30 years that we are in our last 10 years before apocalypse. Now they have brought in the retarded looking teenager Greta. Her crew brought her over from Europe on a yacht formerly owned by the Rothschilds. Then they flew back on a jet (what about all that CO2 Greta)? Of course all of this scam has been put on the back burner by our wonderful Jew MSM as they are super busy now pimping for Gates and the other Zionist eugenicist’s Big Pharma medical fraud.

Hi Kenneth,
I had not picked up on your scientific interests before I decided to reasrch you. And I found we have a similar interests all though yours clearly are more ‘academic’ based as evidenced by this posting.
I have a personal interests because my family and I have farmed around erratic boulders because we could not afford to have them buried in earlier times. The location was about 4 miles west of Clear Lake SD USA, a little south of 45N. Now a curious thing was that in school we never studied the glacial history which was all around us in eastern South Dakota. But the opposite was true in North Dakota which had had an active Geological Survey department. And they hired a field geologist, John P. Blurmle in 1962. And the North Dakota State University Press recently (2016) his book “North Dakota’s Geological Legacy–Our Land and How It Formed. If you haven’t read it, I would urge that you do to see what every geologist should do instead of sitting in an office with a computer,.
I have no idea of what you know about the geology and weather of North and South Dakota.
If you are interested in reading mor, let me know.
Have a good day, Jerry

Hi Richard,
Have now scanned more of the articles which you either wrote or were referenced, I now understand why I paid them little attention. I do not remember when I first learned that it was the ‘naturalist’ Louis Agassis who first saw erratic boulders at the base of melting glaciers in the Alps. And since he knew that such erratics had been found where there was no presence of glaciers, he reasoned there had previously been glaciers which had melted. For until that time glaciers has only been observed at significantly high altitudes at the latitudes where the erratics were lying on, or near, the ground’s surface. Of course, you this history.
But I do not know if you know that Agassiz lost his reputation as scientist because of his attempts to refute Darwin’s theory of the evolution of living organisms. Hence, at Harvard U. he became teacher (Professor) who taught students who requested that he teach them to be naturalists. Except they had more specific careers in mind.
How Agassz taught some of these students was put together in a 1917 book (Louis Agassiz As a Teacher by a Cornell U professor, Lane Copper, of English Language and Literature 43 years after Agassis had died.
The heart of the book are stories written by his after they had become quite successful as professors.
The stories to two students, Professor Shaler and Professor Scudder, can be found and the internet. And I am sure you can find and read them if you haven’t and are interested.
And I urge you to do so, if you haven’t, however there is direct relationship to why I haven’t paid much attention to your postings. It is that you reference academic scholarship and Agassiz forbid his students to read or talk to anyone about the first assignments he gave them.
If you get a copy of the book, you will read that Agassiz, when asked what his greatest achievement was, he replied; “I have taught men to observe.”
Have a good day, Jerry
