How Seismic Activity May Be Driving the Most Recent Warming
The recent release of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Summary for Policymakers (SPM) of the as yet, unreleased Synthesis report, has driven a flurry of catastrophic headlines ranging from ‘climate time bomb’ to ‘last chance for humanity’
The IPCC’s mandate is to study ONLY the effect of ‘human-caused climate change’, not ALL causes of ‘climate change’.
Indeed, Mother Nature is the largest ‘climate change’ factor.
In the following science papers and this power point , Arthur Viterito, retired professor of physical geography, presents research on how geothermal/seismic activity may be driving recent warming – NOT carbon dioxide from human industrial emissions.
The power point below is a compilation of Viterito’s previously published works.
This perspective is certainly worthy of consideration before the world embarks on a multi-trillion dollar trek to NetZero that is presently impoverishing millions of people with heat-or-eat poverty, and causing children to despair of their futures.

“Motive Force for All Climate Change” at Climate Realist, in May 2009 explained the volcanic variably forcing and the natural fission heat and elemental atom production. It was serendipity that I met Dr Arthur Viterito at Heartland ICCC-9 in Las Vegas, July 2014. He had spread sheet data on a million USGS seismic and NOAA temperature data showing PDO is seismic artifact. We have published his great research at PSI, evidence is overwhelming.

“Click here to access the correlation of seismic activity and recent global warming presentation.”
Seismic activity can indicate magma flow in submarine basins. The result is plumes of hot water rising to the surface, causing a rise in sea surface temperature (SST).
Higher SST results in less CO2 being absorbed into the oceans. The concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere is always in balance with the average SST. It is called Henry’s Gas Law and has been known since 1803. The human community plays no part in this.

This is wild speculation based on no relevant data,
Data needed for such a conclusion would be the global average underseas volcano quantity of CO2 released per year, over at least several decades,
Also, the global average underseas volcano heat released per year for at least several decades.
Seismic activity is NOT a proxy for the data needed, which are not available.
Without these data, we do not know if underseas volcano CO2 releases are increasing or decreasing. We do not know whether underseas volcano heat releases are increasing or decreasing. And we do not know if underseas volcanoes can release enough heat to be measured at the ocean’s surface — That heat can not be measured in the deep ocean just 100 yards away from an active underseas volcano. And there are very few active underseas volcanoes.
This speculation about underseas volcanoes is data-free, therefore it is not science. It is one of many “we don’t know” subsets of climate science.

Hi Richard,
It has been studied using a twenty year moving average of SST, by the late Emeritus Professor Lance Endersbee.. See http://icecap.us/images/uploads/Focus_0808_endersbee.pdf
Sorry to tell you – humans are not involved.

Considering it’s summer. What extra warming would that be? Since the CO2 content of the atmosphere, despite it being a pitiful 0.03%, is required for plant growth and oxygen production. Any faction desiring to change that could be categorized as psychotic, deranged and scientifically ridiculous. There is NO climate problem. Politicizing nature is the problem.
