Hazards of Stopping Statin Medications

I was recently asked to give a few comments at a naturopathic meeting conducted by one of the nation’s leading naturopaths.

I was forewarned there was going to be a direction in the material presented and comments towards natural solutions to potentially replace lipid lowering prescription medications, specifically, statins.

As a cardiologist who will get calls in the middle of the night for unstable angina, heart attacks, and cardiac arrests, I told the audience there are risks in stopping statins. Many looked both concerned and surprised.

I would have also liked to hear/see a discussion about the risk of starting to take statins which some people regards as friskier than stopping taking them. Please pass this on to Peter A. M. Thanks.

That is the problem with so many drugs. They tell you you will be on them for life and that’s the point of putting you on them to begin with. They do not improve health but getting off them can be quite daunting. Do not start with this garbage in the first place. Manage your health with better living, not your afflictions with more drugs.

This is a lie, I took my mom off stations cold turkey. Her health improved dramatically. Mr cardiologist is wrong on this one. That’s his crap ama brainwashing that is still influencing him. Starting are garbages and shouldn’t be used period. They don’t help anything and actually cause lots of damage. My mom went from narcotic level pain management down to Tylenol. Once I took her off that garbage. I also took her off about 6-7 other garbage pills. I replaced each one with a natural equivalent and she’s doing better now than she was on their poison.

This article if very brief, but what is said is very suspect to me, given my experience. I was on statin medicines for many years, with progressively worse and worse side effects. Mostly bad muscle pains. My doctor continually had to increase the dosage to get the results they wanted in relation to my labs.
When these side effects became unbearable, I stopped the statins cold turkey. I don’t remember anything bad about this, and in fact felt much better. There are other alternatives, including niacin, which work just fine. From my subsequent reading, statins are very bad for the muscles in your body, including your heart! I never will take them again.
