Glasgow bans ‘polluters’ from using public venues during COP26
Last week the website glasgowlive published an article stating ‘Glasgow venues operated by the Council won’t be allowed to be used by businesses who deny, ignore or wilfully contribute to catastrophic climate change’.
Those who run Glasgow City Council have obviously been drinking the Kool Aid.
The article states:
Glasgow businesses that contribute to “catastrophic climate change” will be banned from using venues or community spaces owned or operated by Glasgow City Council during COP26.
A motion on the issue passed unanimously at a full council meeting and has been welcomed by politicians and campaigners.
The local authority has resolved to ‘ensure that venues and community spaces either owned or operated by the Council are not used for the benefit of those who deny, ignore or wilfully contribute to catastrophic climate change, for the duration of COP26.’
The move is believed to be the first example of a host city counteracting the presence of particular vested interests whilst the talks on climate change and how countries are planning to tackle it take place between October 31 and November 12.
Wow, top marks for virtue-signalling Glasgow!
It continues:
Labour Councillor Eva Murray brought forward the motion. She said: “We understand COP26 is set to be the most important climate conference the world has ever seen and will attract people from across the globe. The motion which we passed in April also highlights the crucial role we have to play as a City Council in ensuring there is a lasting, positive legacy for Glaswegians as well as citizens from under-represented groups.”
“It is our hope that those spaces will be used during COP26 to showcase and give space to grassroots organisations and activists from Glasgow as well as those who may be travelling from other parts of the world.”
You may ‘understand’ that Eva Murray, but I’m afraid you have never been more wrong.
Depute Lord Provost, Christy Mearns of the Scottish Greens, added: “Applications are being decided on soon and it’s exciting to think that, as a result of cross-party work, Glasgow City Council will be in a position to reject applications and send a strong message to the world: that we will not support polluters at COP26 and that they have no place in influencing our response to the climate crisis.
“This has been an absurd feature of previous climate conferences and, if we are to make the progress that we need to make globally, to safeguard our people and planet’s future, then we must not be influenced in any way by those who continue to profit from climate collapse.”
What polluters are those then? None are named. As for ‘climate collapse’, to my knowledge no-one has said that is happening. Did you just think that up yourself?
“Our public spaces should instead be for those that most need to be heard: those from the Global South and First Nations’ peoples, for example. Those who have least contributed to the climate crisis, yet those who have already paid a disproportionately heavy price because of it.”
Campaigners have encouraged Glasgow City Council to detail ‘clear and strong criteria’ for determining access to council spaces.
I’m sure campaigners have ‘encouraged’ Glasgow council to do all sorts of things, and they would be the first to complain when the lights go out.
Scott Tully from Glasgow Calls Out Polluters commented: ‘With robust criteria in place, this would send an important message to the perpetrators of ongoing climate crimes that they are not welcome in Glasgow. Besides the obvious fossil fuel corporations, this criteria must include industry-backed lobby groups, those invested in the destruction of nature and those financing climate breakdown.”
“Without clear and strong criteria, big polluters will once again use publicly-owned spaces for their illicit self-promotion. We will be watching how this progresses very closely and will make sure that we hold our council to account.”
On-going climate crimes? What crimes exactly?
Those financing climate breakdown? Seriously? They really believe people are funding activities that are deliberately destroying our climate?
For what end? Who benefits from this?
These people baffle me. They are so indoctrinated they are beyond reason.
Listen up Glasgow council and campiangers, and listen good. THERE IS NO CLIMATE CRISIS. YOU HAVE BEEN TAKEN IN BY THE BIGGEST LIE EVER TOLD.

It’s a lost cause Andy, the globalists have won, no other way to put it, people under 40 have been pavlovianised they havent been taught about the natural carbon or water cycles they don’t even know they exist, and no media is interested in the slightest to inform them.
Now these people are rising into positions of power and all hope of sanity ever prevailing is lost.
As for the millions of deluded fuckwit’s fuckem its them that are going to suffer the finacial rape they have coming to them as the corporations rise to replace elected governments and inflict their malevolence on the ”peoples” of the world.

Even the animals that do die to constitute oil, required enormous amounts of the plants providing the basis for the various oils, usually related to hydrogen-related sort of inputs.
It’s like when you try to explain to people…

Hi Andy,
If the purpose of PSI is to present information that a PSI READER might not read elsewhere, your article was very good!!!
However, I suspect you are delusional when you wrote: “Listen up Glasgow council and campiangers, and listen good.” For do you really expect anyone of the Glasgow council and compiangers to be writing what you wrote??? By this conclusion you become a compianger for the other side of the issue.
Why not allow the READER read the article and conclude whatever each might conclude on the accurate information, which I assume you have provided),without making it a possibly BAISED POLITICAL ISSUE.
Just my opinion.
Have a good day, Jerry

Hi Andy,
What was the purpose of your many Glasgow Councillors’ quotes? Am I wrong when I conclude that it is was to allow PSI Readers to read directly what they, themselves, have written, or stated, so that each reader could make an informed decision about these controversial issues?
Your last two statements: “THERE IS NO CLIMATE CRISIS. YOU HAVE BEEN TAKEN IN BY THE BIGGEST LIE EVER TOLD.”
Some people have not died because of some not known and understood disease??? What are the massive WILDFIRES being caused by: Natural Environmental Factors or by Governmental Policies??? As a SCIENTIST I am insulted by your statements. For I know that in SCIENCE we should always be uncertain about what we believe. Therefore your statements seem to imply a false idea that SCIENCE is the TRUTH. The only TRUTHS in SCIENCE are the CLEARLY DEFINED IDEAS which have been PROVEN BY REPRODUCIBLE OBSERVATIONs that CANNOT BE TRUE!!!
I am insulted by the FALSE DOCTRINE of SCIENCE which your statements seem TEACH (espouse).
In closing, Richard Feynman was asked by his wife who was dying of TB: “What Do You Care What Other People Think?”. I have gone through 8 decades of life basically living according to this principal.
What you wrote is your problem and what I wrote is my problem. So can we agree to disagree without ending our relationship?
And an past roommate and fellow graduate student with me, stated to another graduate who was clearly upset with what I was saying told the student: If Jerry really didn’t like you, he would ignore you. Which I consider to be an accurate statement about me (myself).
Have a good day, Jerry.

Hi Herb,
You know I also have a poor memory and do not proofread well when I sometimes try to actually proofread. However, I seem to remember I have drawn attention to a website by giving a link to an article or two for which I read no evidence that anyone has gone to this link and read the article.
I sure would like to have a conversation about these wildfires which have and are now occurring in USA and other places around the world. There is much good NATURAL SCIENTIFIC PHENOMENA that can actually be observed because of these fires which ordinarily cannot be directly observed by one’s eyes or from actual photos that are related to James McGinn’s storms which he considers to be sometimes occurring near the top of the troposphere instead in the atmosphere near the earth’s surfaces. And he has been strangely silent here about what is going on.
But maybe you can make some comments about what you read at: (https://wildfiretoday.com/2021/08/31/caldor-fire-burns-across-hwy-89-near-meyers/)

I have just admitted that I make many mistakes. Now, if you both track back to my first comment you will find it was address to Andy and a fact is that Andy first misspelled the word–complangers–and I copied and pasted his statement without making any comment as to the miss-spelling because I knew what he intended.
Howdy, I ask you:, How are you doing???, for any comment of mine would only be an opinion and not straight from the horse’s mouth.

Hi Jerry,
I did not see where Andy mis-spelled “campaigner” I did not read the article because I am tired of seeing how stupid politicians are. When I looked “complainer” up in the dictionary it was corrected to complainers which made no sense.

I believe you are confused Jerry. I wasn’t referring to you, but your comment to Andy.
This is what you stated: “For do you really expect anyone of the Glasgow council and compiangers to be writing what you wrote”
You commented: “To be writing what you wrote”. Shouldn’t It be: “To be READING what you wrote”?
Now do you get It?
Hypocrite? Oh, personal attacks Is It. I’m well versed, and more than capable of defending myself, or apologizing when the fault is mine, as I have done.
So, yes, I guessed your failed attempt at figuring me out would lead to something like this. That’s why I called you out when You “left me hanging”, remember? A disappointment was It? After your “tuition”, your “teachings”, that I wasn’t the “wet behind the ears” who you thought I was. I wondered what you were up to for a short while, but went with It, odd as It was. Then you pounced after I dropped a clanger and Carbon Bigfoot ripped me a new one in the concrete article, which I deserved btw. I’ve just been waiting to see how things developed…
Now you brought It to a head. So you see, a hypocrite? Well, you would know about that.

“[Verse 1]
Citizen!
Whence came your voice your right to speak?
Is there a purpose to your tongue and gnawing teeth?
I ask thee: How deep and hollow is your mouth?
What lie is too decayed for you to stomach?
[Bridge]
With humility and obedience
You pride yourself
Evasive and lukewarm
Until the end
[Verse 2]
Citizen!
The interdependent morality of your collective
Made too soft the bed in which you lie
I ask thee: Do you acknowledge your own fragility
When you sleep to serve the “Greater Good”?
[Bridge]
United in fear
Lives “hard to bear”
Illusions that “we are all peers”
I preach not for understanding
In you I have no faith
I spit at you my truth
That you are the burden of my heritage
For herein lies the irony
There is neither room nor air
For the wakeful fire
In your precious world of equality
[Verse 3]
Citizen!
You are truly faithful
To tradition when you crucify
Those whose voices burn
Alas
A hundred years from now you recite and corrupt
Their epitaphs to crucify another
To crucify”

Hi Andy,
The trouble with the subject is the ever increasing stupidity of public officials has lost its shock value. It use to be that people were alarmed by this gross ignorance and arrogance but now it is expected and the impact is diminished by the knowledge and expectation that next week there will be an even greater example. It is sad that in order for a person to be nominated for office the political parties must be sure that they are mindless idiots (Joe Biden) and will obey them.

There was a time, Andy, where many or most commenters treated science, PSI, and the opportunity to comment with a measure of reference.
Now reverent comment is replaced with comment porn. Mind you, Back then there were only 3 articles or so per day so people with busy lives had time to read the articles and make considered comments.
If you become disillusioned try an article which is in effect a survey of readers. Mind you, that requires democracy and the ability to listen.
Best wishes

Hi Andy and MattH,
There is word that is rarely written or spoken anymore. What might this word be???
There was a satellite launch accident in which several people all died. And there was a big deal government inquiry into how it was this accident occurred. And I read that the powers believed that one of the investigators needed to be a SCIENTIST qualified to be part of this inquiry (investigation).
I ask can you (Andy or Matt) tell the PSI Readers who this SCIENTIST was??? And if you can you tell PSI Readers WHY (OR HOW) it happened this SCIENTIST was recruited to be this needed SCIENTIST to give the GOVERNMENTAL investigation team some CREDIBILITY???
This SCIENTIST was Richard Feynman and after several days of investigation showed the team the unquestionable cause of the accident. The mangers of satellite program had ignored their engineers advice and the rules long established near the beginning of unmanned satellite launches. For none of these managers and government officials had this thing which Feynman was observed to have.
What was this rare word which describes what Feynman had demonstrated that he had???

Hi Jerry and coolest readers.
I have read a little on Challenger 13. One of the two contract engineers who refused to sign off on the launch spent the rest of his life in anguish for having failed to stop the launch.
I will not guess the word you ask of.
That article on the moon and possible effect on El Nino. The Cromwell subsurface reverse direction current has not been adequately explained so I gave it some consideration.
What the Cromwell Current is is in fact a pressure release valve. If the Cromwell current was stalled or slowed by another force that would cause deep water upwelling on the East coast New Guinea, Southern Philippines, Guadalcanal etc. and this upwelling would displace the Pacific Warm Water Pool all the way to Central America.
I need to do a summary on that moon article to cover the bases.
Also, the timing of El Nino reversals coincides with with 2 to 3 months of Spring tides, possibly King tides.
Cheers Jerry and cool ones.

I remember Feynman’s involvement in the Challenger enquiry, when he discovered the frozen O-ring problem, and it was revealed some of the Thiokol engineers had warned against launching in such low temperatures. Is the word you wanted integrity?

Hi Andy,
Integrity certainly is the word.
What Feynman didn’t understand was that they had to launch the space shuttle. Reagan had scheduled a live phone call with Christa McAuliffe, the first teacher in space, and the show had to go on. Lost lives hundreds of millions of dollars wasted were incidental when it came to an opportunity for a politicain to get a spotlight to shine on him.

Hi MattH,
First, I am a little disappointed in you because you haven’t told me that you have started to read Galileo’s book. I have given F’s to students who didn’t even try to do the homework assignments that I gave them for they had learned nothing.
You clearly do observe what you can and ponder about you KNOW you have observed. And you admit that YOU DO NOT KNOW sometimes like now. You read the short articles that you find on the internet but I doubt if you are patient enough to read popular books like Feynman’s “Surely You’re Joking, Mr. Feynman!” But I could be wrong as I frequently am.
However, I will give you a short, condensed version of what he wrote about his experiences at Los Alamos. He began this story: “I was an underling at the beginning. Later I became a group leader. And I met some very great men.” Names are Enrico Fermi, John von Neumann, Bethe, Bob Bacher.
“I also met Niels Bohr. … even to the big shot guys, Bohr was a great god. We were at a meeting once, the first time he came, and everybody wanted to see the great Bohr. So there were a lot of people there, and we were discussing the problems of the bomb. I was back in a corner somewhere. He came and went, and all I could see of him was from between people’s heads. In the morning of the day he’s due to come next time, I get a telephone call. ‘Hello—Feynman? ‘Yes. This is Jim Baker. It’s his son. My father and I would like to speak to you. Me? I’m Feynman, I’m just a—- That’s right. Is eight o’clock OK? So, at eight o’clock in the morning, before anybody’s awake, I go down to the place. We go into an office in the technical area and he says, We have been thinking how we could make the bomb more efficient and we think of the following idea. I say, No, it’s not going to work. It’s not efficient … Blah, blah, blah. So he says, How about so and so? I said, That sounds a little bi better, but it’s got this damn fool idea in it. This went on for about two hours, going back and forth over lots of ideas, back and forth, arguing. The great Niels kept lighting his pipe, it always went out. And he talked in way that was un-understandable—mumble, mumble. Hard to understand. His son I could understand better. Well, he said finally, lighting his pipe. I guess we can call in the big shots now. … Then the son told me what happened. The last time he was there, Bohr said to his son. Remember the name of that little fellow in the back over there? He’s the only guy who’s not afraid of me, and will say when I’ve got a crazy idea. So next time when we want to discuss ideas, we’re not going to be able to do it with these guys who say everything is yes, yes, Dr. Bohr. Get that guy and we’ll talk with him first. I was always dumb in that way. I never knew who I was talking to. I was always worried about the physics. If the idea looked lousy. I said it look lousy. If it looked good, I said it looked good. Simple proposition.”
The WORD is INTEGRITY and most other SCIENTISTS knew (had learned) that Feynman had IT.
Have a good day, Jerry
