Fission and Radiation directing Evolution
Fission tracks are minute damage trails, or tracks, left by fission fragments in certain uranium-bearing minerals and glasses.
The linked article speaks of fission tracks observed in minerals from the PreCambrian Era (2.5 billion to 500 million years ago). Furthermore, the linked article speaks of fission tracks in enantiomorphic minerals as a key to the emergence of homochirality.
Uniform left-handed chirality (a left hand twist ) is evidenced in all complex biochemicals and is necessary for the DNA molecule to function. That is, the complex genetic molecules are left hand chiral but the outer double helix is right hand chiral. In this way, the DNA molecule can “unzip” to provide exact replication of the genes held inside.
Work at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider has determined that there is a natural bias for left-handedness throughout all of Nature, right down to the decay paths of sub-atomic particles. We also observe a left-handed twist (counter-clockwise rotation) to almost all galaxies. A very small minority of galaxies have clockwise rotation. Counter-clockwise rotation also dominates in planetary and stellar rotation. In our solar system, only Venus, Uranus, and Pluto have clockwise or retrograde rotations.
Returning to the point of fission tracks and the PreCambrian Era, the fifteen natural fission reactors identified in 1972 at Oklo, Gabon are dated to have occurred 1.7 billion years ago, almost exactly in the middle of the PreCambrian Era. These natural reactors functioned on and off for a few hundred thousand years, with ground water serving as a moderator.
In 1977, Argonne National Laboratories assembled a study group to determine if there had been other “Oklo-type reactor systems”. Although they did not possess the definitive mineral assay information as did Oklo, they concluded that most certainly such events had occurred in the ocean waters.
At the early years of the PreCambrian Era, life had only evolved to bacteria and slimes. As Paul Kuroda had predicted in 1956, such bacteria and slimes served as chelating agents to concentrate the heavy fissile elements.
500,000 years ago was the “Cambrian Explosion of Life”, with the first vertebrates. Calcium serves as a radiation blocker and the calcium in concrete is the key ingredient for radiation shielding. Organisms that could incorporate calcium into their bodies would have greater protection from deadly radiation as well as greater mobility. Examine such calcium structures as you possess which protect your vital organs and provide mobility. These are major assets for survivability.
The final noteworthy item relating to this essay is the fact that most people are right handed. The left hand side of the brain controls the right hand side of the body. The left hemisphere of the brain carries the functions of logic, mathematics, spatial awareness, and speech. Such traits also favored survivability.
