Esteemed AGU Member Calls Out AGU on ‘Criminal’ Science

Top American scientist targeted for exposing lies and misinformation about global warming and geoengineering  publishes an open letter exposing American Geophysical Union for its role in ‘criminal’ conspiracy.

Professor J Marvin Herndon, a pioneering geophysicist and member of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) for 45 years pulls no punches in calling out the AGU as a “party to the biggest science scam ever perpetrated. And, as well, party to an activity many may consider to be a crime against humanity and the environment.”

Herndon writes:

An Open Letter to Members of AGU, EGU, and IPCC Alleging Promotion of Fake Science at the Expense of Human and Environmental Health and Comments on AGU Draft Geoengineering Position Statement [1]

I have been a member of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) for 45 years. During that time I have
published fundamental scientific advances in world-class science journals [2]. In 2011 the AGU
established its Task Force on Scientific Ethics and Integrity and invited input from its members. On
February 2, 2012, I responded [3] with a fundamental statement on scientific ethics and integrity:
“Scientists are persons of integrity: They stand for what is right. They tell the truth and ensure that
the full truth be known. They do not lie.” In that response I gave specific examples of egregious ethical
transgressions by such AGU “luminaries” as Medal of Science awardee Don Anderson. Two weeks later
the chairman of that task force, Peter Gleick, resigned in disgrace over his own ethical transgression,
nationally reported.

Numerous AGU members along with members of the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change (IPCC) and the European Geosciences Union (EGU) have been involved in failing to tell the full
truth about climate change. These scientists promote the claim that greenhouse gases, most especially
anthropogenic carbon dioxide, are responsible for global warming. They remain silent about the
consequences of the daily, near-global aerosol geoengineering that has been taking place since at least the
1990s with growing scope and intensity [4]. Failure to discuss this massive global anthropogenic
phenomenon not only negates the validity of these scientists’ assertions about climate change, but, I allege,
makes those individuals, and their associated institutions, party to the biggest science scam ever
perpetrated. And, as well, party to an activity many may consider to be a crime against humanity and the
environment [5].

For 70 years the military interest in controlling the weather has been thoroughly documented [6]. Military
experiments advanced from causing rain and snow to inhibiting rainfall by emplacing pollution particles
into the atmosphere where clouds form. Eventually, the atmosphere becomes too moisture-laden and
torrential rains and storms result. The net effect of the now near-daily, near-global ongoing covert
geoengineering activity of emplacing pollution particles into the atmosphere is to contribute to global
warming. While some sunlight is reflected back into space by aerosols, the deliberately spread pollution
particles also heat the atmosphere and impede heat loss from Earth [4]. The albedo of snow and ice is
lowered by certain particulates when they fall to Earth. There is, furthermore, evidence of a covert
operation to deliberately melt ice by dispersing pseudo-cryoconite material [7].

Climate science that does not take into account the ongoing aerosol geoengineering activities can rightly be
deemed immoral — by omission, lies are deliberately perpetuated. Such a dishonest effort to understand
the climate is like trying to understand and predict ocean tides without considering the existence and
gravitational influence of the Moon.

High-ranking and some other members of the AGU, EGU, and IPCC have been grossly remiss in ignoring
the ongoing aerosol geoengineering. Not only are their climate-science results corrupted, but those
scientists, who are unwilling to consider the evidence for ongoing climate engineering, demonstrate an
absence of concern for human and environmental health.

Even without knowing the specific composition of the pollution particulates being sprayed into the air we
breathe, some of the potentially adverse effects can be inferred from epidemiological studies of aerosol
pollution in the same particle size range. As those studies have shown [8], pollution particles in the size
range (PM2.5) are associated with Alzheimer’s disease [9,10], lung cancer [11], risk for stroke [12], risk for cardiovascular disease [13], lung inflammation and diabetes [14], reduced renal function in older males
[15], morbidity and premature mortality [16-18], decreased male fertility [19], low birth weight [20],
onset of asthma [21], and increased hospital admissions [22]. Furthermore, forensic investigation results are
consistent with coal fly ash, the toxic-nightmare waste product of coal-burning utilities, likely being the
main geoengineering aerosol in use world-wide [23-26]. The chemical components of coal fly ash present a
range of extremely toxic health hazards to humans and other biota.

Certain members of AGU, EGU and IPCC have deceived the public, either overtly or by ignoring the
ongoing aerosol geoengineering. Now, AGU is in the process of establishing a draft “Geoengineering
Position Statement” [1] and in accordance with its normal procedure has requested comments from its
members via a limited-space web-form. The egregious misrepresentations contained in that draft statement
require far more space and evidentiary documentation than can be accommodated by the web form. Hence,
my comments on the draft Geoengineering Position Statement are presented here instead, and are available
for public disclosure, which may be of benefit in the case of future criminal and/or civil liabilities that arise
from past, present, and future geoengineering activities.

No one has the right to poison the air we all breathe, and no one has the right to hide the health risks from
the public.

The draft Geoengineering Position Statement is a tainted document that not only fails to tell the truth but is
produced by a panel composed of at least two individuals, Ken Caldeira and Marcia McNutt, who, I allege,
have a documented track record of acting to deceive the scientific community and the public about the
existence of and the adverse human and environmental health consequences of ongoing tropospheric
particulate aerosol geoengineering.

The ongoing military aerosol geoengineering program has been conducted without public disclosure. In a
2005 document the U. S. Air Force lied, claiming that such an activity did not exist [27]. There are two
disinformation websites, operated by Mick West, whose purpose, I allege, is to deceive the public
concerning the aerial spraying. In 2016 Ken Caldeira teamed with non-scientist Mick West and published a
paper in Environmental Research Letters that deceives the scientific community about the “existence of a
secret large-scale atmospheric spraying program” by collecting opinions [28]. I submitted a rebuttal the
journal refused to publish [29].

In the early days of Hitler’s Chancellorship his regime secretly murdered “defectives,” but later with
support from the scientific community and its false racial science, Hitler was able to make the commission
of certain atrocities, such as forced sterilization, legal [30]. The current Geoengineering Position Statement
is a discomforting parallel. There are concerted efforts to make geoengineering legal, but in no instance to
my knowledge is the full story being told. The full truth is not being told in the AGU’s present draft
statement, and the clandestine effort to legalize climate engineering is thereby being advanced.

Women are the bearers and protectors of our species and progeny. What has happened to AGU women?
Has any one of them questioned or spoken out about the ongoing aerial particulate geoengineering? Are
they deceived, or have they aborted their humanity? At least one female panel member, Marcia McNutt,
president of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), has been made aware of the ongoing
geoengineering [31], but by this draft statement, I allege, she clearly intends to deceive the AGU and all
those who might be persuaded by the AGU’s Geoengineering Position Statement.

Instead of being a body of scientists who are willing and able to provide independent scientific advice to
the U. S. Congress, the National Academy of Sciences, I allege, has been corrupted and coopted to
serve a political agenda that may be characterized as tyranny against human populations that involves
crimes against humanity [5]. As the adverse health consequences of the current ongoing geoengineering
become public, perhaps the legal community will instigate class action lawsuits.

No one has the right to poison the air we breathe and no one has the right to deceive the public of the
adverse health risks involved in clandestine geoengineering. Not even the military has this right.

I published three papers in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) in 1996 [32],
2001 [33], and 2003 [34]. On April 28, 2016, I submitted a paper to PNAS entitled “New Evidence of
Aerosolized Toxins in the Lower Atmosphere”. Instead of the manuscript being sent out for peer review,
one NAS member of the PNAS Editorial Board flatly rejected the paper because it “lacked the broad
appeal necessary for further consideration by the journal.” My appeal received a similar rejection from
another NAS member of the PNAS Editorial Board. Those actions, made without benefit of peer review, I
allege, have had the consequence of deceiving the scientific community and the public of the existence of a
widespread covert operation that poses potential health risks to virtually all biota on a near-global scale.

Recently, PNAS published a pro-geoengineering Opinion article [35] that like this AGU draft statement
failed to mention the ongoing aerial particulate geoengineering. Institutions whose executives/faculty/staff
engage in geoengineering governance activities based upon deception and failure to tell the whole truth
should, in my view, be debarred from receiving federal grants and contracts.

The draft Geoengineering Position Statement encourages international efforts when in fact the covert
aerosol particulate geoengineering is already an international operation that is opposed by millions of
people [36] some of whom have filed complaints with their governments [37].

Finally, there have been concerted efforts by disinformation professionals to deceive the public of the
health risks involved in tropospheric aerosol geoengineering, including three instances, two successful,
where editors of public health journals were pressured to unwarrantedly retract my peer-reviewed and
published scientific articles warning of the health risks, without ever allowing me to see and respond to the
disinformation [38].

My reputation has been smeared on disinformation websites. Even my Wikipedia page has been
marginalized and falsified. That is perhaps the most revealing evidence of the shameful, deleterious, and, I
allege, criminal operation that AGU is being coopted into by its draft Geoengineering Position Statement.
As a long-standing AGU member I am appalled. I believe many other members will also be appalled when
the truth of this deception comes to light.

Rather than becoming a willing, legally-culpable party to this debacle, the AGU Executive Director/Chief
Executive Officer, Christine W. McEntee, should publish my response in toto in EOS.
