It is well known that if you gave a drug that suppresses respiration as midazolam does effectively, and when the patient already has respiratory challenges, then you are sure to suppress the breathing more, and kill them.
The lethal injection typically comprises three chemicals: midazolam, to sedate; vecuronium bromide, to paralyse the muscles; and potassium chloride, to stop the heart.
We did exactly that to our precious elderly with midazolam and diamorphine.
