BOEM Report Finds Offshore Wind Wreaking Harm On Marine Life, Whales

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump took aim at the offshore wind industry during a three-hour interview with Joe Rogan last week. [emphasis, links added]

The former president said “windmills” harm whales, and he said he’d eliminate offshore wind power on the first day of his second term.

“I wanna be a whale psychiatrist. It drives the whales fricking crazy. And something happens with them, but for whatever reason, they’re getting washed up onshore and you know, they’re ignored by these environmentalists. But they don’t talk about it.” Trump said.

Trump claimed that it’s the operational vibrations of the massive structures that drive whales “crazy,” but it’s more the construction and vessel activity that experts say is causing the animals harm.

Unavoidable impacts

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) concluded as much in a new report on the environmental impacts of six wind lease areas off the coasts of New York and New Jersey.

The report finds that noise could harm fish, marine mammals, sea turtles, and birds, resulting in habitat displacement and disruptions to migratory patterns

The report includes details on mitigation measures that can be taken, but it concludes that offshore wind development “would result in unavoidable adverse impacts.”

Robert Rand, founder of the acoustics consultancy company Rand Acoustics, has surveyed noise levels from pile driving and sonar survey vessels.

Both of his independent studies found that the incidental harassment authorizations, which are permits that offshore wind developers are required to obtain to conduct activities that might threaten marine animalsdon’t impose sufficient mitigation requirements to protect marine animals.

Rand told Just the News that the report shows that federal agencies may be backing away from their insistence that offshore wind isn’t harming marine wildlife.

“Any concession by federal agencies that they are injuring marine species is both a step in the right direction and also damning to the agencies charged with implementing the MMPA [Marine Mammal Protection Act] and ESA [Endangered Species Act],” Rand said.

Installation of offshore wind towers requires that 30-foot wide monopiles be pounded into the seabed floor with special ships.

Rand said his studies showed that even with the full complement of noise controls that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) requires, the pile driving makes a sound as loud as 2000-psi seismic airguns.

The equivalent noise level in the air is a 155 mm Howitzer blasting every two seconds, he said.

Rand said developers have no feasible means of noise control, except maintaining sufficient distance from any marine wildlife.

However, NOAA is permitting the machinery inside endangered whale and marine species habitats, so safe distances can’t be maintained.

It is believed that many migratory species, birds, whales etc. use the magnetic poles or meridian energy bands as migratory guides. The magnetic fields associated with offshore electricity conduits may interfere with this as well as the other known and speculated adverse causes of offshore power activities.

It is good that President Trump listened to RFK jn. on this issue and the vaccine related issues.
The genocide in Gaza is where it will be interesting on how Trump behaves as he has received vast contributions from Jews.

Interesting times ahead if Trump can dodge the next assassination attempt.

      Hi MattH,

The topic is Alfred Wegener and continental drift; but I most start with Canadian Geese Migration. On the internet I was able to find: “Canadian geese typically migrate south for the winter, with most populations heading to the southern United States and northern Mexico. However, depending on weather conditions and food availability, some may travel as far as Florida or even Central America.Aug 9, 2024”. I have no idea who or what wrote this; but more than 30 years ago it seemed common knowledge was that some of these geese migrated from the northern hemisphere to the souther hemisphere in the northern hemisphere’s fall and back north in the spring where they nested and incubated eggs so baby geese would hatch to perpetuate the Canadian geese species.

So I assume this migration pattern was occurring when Alfred Wegener observed that the west coast of Africa fit the east coast of South America like two pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. So Alfred proposed the idea that continents must have drifted apart.

And more than 30 years Alfred and others who agreed with his idea observed that migratory bird like the Canadian geese flew from South America across the Atlantic to Africa and back to South America where they wintered and then in the spring flew across the Atlantic again to get northern North American where they nested to reproduce themselves.

And I read that believers of continental drift used this NATURAL MIGRATION PATTERN to support the idea of continental drift. And as. I write this I remember they considered that local (to Africa and South America were migrating back and forth across the Atlantic as the two continents SLOWLY separated.

Such a senecio seems impossible but ISN’T LIFE IMPOSSIBLE also!

    Hi PSI Readers and MattH,

If one is really interested in understanding weather and climate, one needs to read Weather And Climate (1966) by R.C. Sutcliffe ERS. Who was
Sutcliffe? I read; “At the end ox World War II, he was Chief Meteorological Officer for the Bri+ish Forces inEurope.” Hence he was part of the team which predicted the date for the Normandy Invasion of the continent.

Chapter 4, The Classification of Clouds, page 33, second paragraph, he wrote: “It would be difficult to overstress the importance of clouds as the necessary intermediary between invisible vapour and falling precipitation in the water cycle upon all land-life depends, but there importance by no means ends here. Clouds which do not give rain, which never even threaten to give rain but which dissolve again into vapour before the precipitation stage is ever reached, have a profound effect on our climate.”

An obvious problem is how one can access Sutciffe’s book. However, if the right person pr enough reader contacts W.W. Norton & Company Inc., this publisher might be convinced to republish this book.

    Have a good day

Sometimes you do have to do what you’ve got to do.
In this case to unlock Americans from irrational imprisonment and restart the economy a “solution” to the scamdemic was necessary.
Trump never mandated the jab. He did the best anyone could have done under those conditions. Besides, Trump wasn’t in the lab developing the the toxic potion. Which was probably already in the wings waiting to be released on people who were unaware what lay in store.

all part of political theater, its ALL a show trump will play whatever part he is assigned, just like biden and every other ‘leader’ of the western countries

where is trump on digital currency?
once digital currency takes hold we are done
and trump is also in bed with Israel so no peace there, surprise surprise
war-mongers/politicians all have the same agenda, to follow orders of their masters

    hide and watch

One issue at a time. Trump isn’t a perfect man, but he gets it right most of the time.
He’s right on Israel. The Jewish people are the native people who have inhabited the geographical area that is now Israel for thousands of years. They have a right to defend themselves from terrorists who want to eliminate them.
Digital currency sounds somewhat like the mark of the beast but I don’t claim to have a clear understanding so I will defer an opinion until I have done more research from trusted sources.
      Take care Aaron.
