Big Brother Watch sounding alarm over facial recognition tech
On July 2nd I appeared on Good Morning Britain to speak out for the many victims of facial recognition we’ve been supporting
Facial recognition is out of control in the UK and there are still no specific laws governing its use.
Danielle Horan was falsely accused of shoplifting at a Home Bargains store and added to a facial recognition watchlist using Facewatch technology.
Today she told her story to millions of viewers on Good Morning Britain.
“I went into my local store and was asked to leave again by the area manager [after a facial recognition flag] and I was really embarrassed on both occasions and felt worried about the accusations and what I may have done.”
“I spent about two weeks trying to prove that I had not stolen the items”
Below is the facial recognition ‘mugshot’ that appeared in the Facewatch system, used to ban Danielle from every shop in her area that deploys the technology.
