Ayn Rand and Critical Thinking

{If you have not voted about who you thought won the Presidential debate, please take ten seconds and do so now — here. TY!}

My bad as I did not know that Ayn Rand was a Russian immigrant to the US!

This short 5 minute PragerU video does a superior job at connecting what Ayn is trying to communicate to us — and it’s more relevant than ever today…

—> Please Watch This Short Video! <—

One of the reasons why I’m showing this, is that it quite clearly states that the solution to the stressful times we are in, is for citizens to use their brain — i.e, to Critically Think!

At 3:48 it says that this is about “the power of the individual and the power of reason.”

It goes on to state: “The individual’s reasoning mind is his tool of knowledge — his only means of understanding what is True or False, how the world works, what is good or bad for his life. This is the theme of Rand’s work.”

“In order to thrive and achieve happiness, the individual must think for himself…”

Most people will nod in agreement, and may even say that this is obvious. However, regarding every societal issue we have (energy, climate, education, election integrity, religion, etc.) Critical Thinkers are as rare as hen’s teeth.

The answer, again, is that we need to properly instill this skill in K-12 children — which will pay enormous dividends when they become adults (e.g., voting citizens).

    ‘Critical thinking’ is not a skill. One cannot instill a natural way of processing thought by force. To do so is simply indoctrination of what the people claiming to know what this ‘skill’ actually is. Brainwashing.

    You will find that instinct over-rides a forced way of thinking every time.

    A lame ploy to garner subscriptions by suppressing one’s vote until they do. Shameful!

    “Man has no automatic code of survival. He has no automatic course of action, no automatic set of values. His senses do not tell him automatically what is good for him or evil, what will benefit his life or endanger it, what goals he should pursue and what means will achieve them, what values his life depends on, what course of action it requires. His own consciousness has to discover the answers to all these questions — but his consciousness will not function automatically.”
