Atolls — how they came about and why they didn’t become islands
As contributor of (now several hundred) articles published (also translated and re-published elsewhere) in a variety of electronic press outlets, Dr. Kaiser’s newest PROM paper is a reminder to all of us of the most important scientific maxims in existence, namely to:
Never stop to probe, query, (re)-analyze, and develop new insights.
There is no room for a “consensus” in the field of science.
Principia Scientific Intl. is pleased to have published Dr. Kaiser’s new PROM paper, entitled
On the Formation of Atolls – Proposed Modification of Darwin’s Theory
This contribution (https://principia-scientific.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/PROM-On-the-Formation-of-Atolls.pdf ) is a rather brief text that requires no prior or high-level knowledge in any scientific field, just a bit of common sense.
In brief, Darwin’s theory of atoll (growth and) sinking is revised to compacting. This revision also entails an explanation of when undersea volcanoes lead to the formation of mountainous islands (such as in Hawaii) versus atolls (such as in Micronesia). The critical property is the gas content of the magma.
Principia Scientific Intl. invites all readers to provide (public) comments, in the ‘comments’ section below, on this and all other PROM publications of the past and in the future. All our PROM papers may be found under ‘PROM’ in the black band of links at the top of the site.
Editor’s note: this PROM paper has now been translated into Italian and published

Wikipedia reports “Over geologic time sea level has fluctuated by more than 300 metres, possibly more than 400 metres.” Many coral atolls would have accommodated these sea level changes. Island erosion explains reducing sea levels, but atolls must have the capacity to grow back as well, given that the volcanic origin would have moved on in many cases. This leads to a second form of island growth involving coral formation and sand generation which is very topical during this period of the AGW scare.
