America’s Stormy Thanksgiving! NASA satellite images of both US coasts
The NOAA GOES-East satellite image, taken at 10.15am EST yesterday, showed the location of the storms as families travelled home for Thanks giving.
One storm system was seen exiting the northeastern US while the storm was affecting the Pacific Northwest, according to NASA. In a pre-Thanksgiving forecast, NASA said: “In the northeastern US clouds associated with a cold front were covering the New England states in the image.”
“Clouds associated with a system in the Pacific Northwest were seen over Washington State, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Colorado. Pre-Thanksgiving travelers in the northern Plains and Upper Great Lakes will experience arctic air that is expected to bring periods of snow, blustery winds and cold wind chills.”

“Expect showers and thunderstorms, with heavy rainfall possible, to accompany this system during the Thanksgiving Holiday and into Friday across northern and central Florida,” it said.
“It also looks to be a wet holiday for those across the Northwest as a cold front crossing the region will bring rain and mountain snows to places from the Pacific Northwest into the northern Rockies. ”
