Swedish Court Convicts Greta Thunberg For Blocking Oil Trucks

Greta Thunberg will have to pay a small fine after being convicted of disobeying a lawful order of the authorities to stop blocking a road earlier this year, an outcome she decried “absurd”

Those who burn ‘fossil fuels’ should be in court, not those who fight against them, Thunberg said on July 24th as she was handed a criminal record in a Swedish court for a protest action earlier this year.

Thunberg was ordered to pay 50 kronor, or £3.75/$4.80 a day every day for 30 days. In all, the fine will add up to just £112, or $144.

It was previously reported she could have faced months of prison time, underlining the leniency of the fine.

The activist blocked traffic by sitting in the road with a group of other young people in the port city of Malmo in June, part of a series of disruptions over several days.

While police initially stood by and watched, but eventually it was judged the disruption being caused was too great and the protesters were asked to leave.

Those who did not were carried away by officers, and charged with disobeying an order.

Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reports that Thunberg was scathing of her conviction, meaning for the first time in five years of protests she now has a criminal record.

She told the court on Monday that:

My actions are justifiable. I believe that we are in an emergency that threatens life, health, and property… We are in a climate emergency and we don’t want to wait for someone to act. We chose to block oil trucks.

Speaking to a considerable gaggle of photographers waiting for her outside the court after the verdict, Thunberg criticized the prosecution, saying that oil companies are the true criminals.

She said, vowing to keep protesting:

“It is absurd that those who act according to the science should pay the price for it… While those who burn the fossil fuels do not have to be held accountable.”

Editor’s note: those who break the law and are convicted often claim their actions are justifiable, and by inference that the law doesn’t apply to them for the duration of their actions. The fines handed out to those few climate protestors who are convicted are pathertically small, and criminal records are now seen as badges of honour among warmunists.

If Thunberg was acting ‘according to the science’ as she claims, she would be on the side of the skeptics. Just because she ‘believes’ we are in a climate emergency doesn’t make it a fact.

20 years in prison wouldn’t be enough.

Ah, seen this, but I thought the article was about a second time and she got nicked, and a sentence. Greta has vowed to continue, so give it time. It will only elevate her status in follower’s eyes though.

Oil users are the criminals? So put a stop to it by sitting in the road like an infant? The fools way of acting in the interest of least harm to one’s self. There will be no real, decisive action, as self is too sacred to try that level of risk.

“Follow the science” appears to be the name of a comic book these people read.

Also, remember that in 1971 GISS scientists Rasool and Schneider warned that fossil fuels were atmospheric coolants producing aerosols that blocked out sunlight and reflected it back to space. They stated (and it is in the study’s abstract) that fossil fuels could “trigger an ice age.” (If you are an alarmist there is no end of danger everywhere you look.)

Tom, They were absolutely correct in 1971. Coal soot, smoke, particulates, and CO2 do indeed have a cooling effect on the planet. See Mount Pinatubo eruption for confirmation of this observed effect.
Ozone has a cooling effect on the planet.
Water vapor has a cooling effect on the planet.
Again, CO2 also has a cooling effect on the planet.

Perhaps, we could teach Real Science to Greta and her sick, brainwashing parents.

In the classic film ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, the Angel shows George Bailey what the world might be like if he had never lived.

I think we should show young Greta what the world might be like without any fossil fuels?
Perhaps, we could start by removing all fossil fuels, and products made from them, from the country of Sweden. No gasoline, no diesel, no propane, no plastics, no fertilizers, no petro-chemicals, and no fire wood.
When Greta’s family and friends soon die of starvation and frostbite, she might have an epiphany…
