Why There Are No Flat Earth Surveyors
In this video, Dave McKeegan discusses why there are no Flat Earth surveyors and what this means for those on either side of the debate about the shape of the Earth.
Surveying uses equipment such as theodolite to survey an area of land and get accurate measurements which can then be used in areas like engineering. If an engineering survey wasn’t accurate then big engineering project would very quickly go horribly wrong.
In a previous video, McKeegan discussed a surveying training website called Learn CST, which was run by the National Society of Professional Surveyors in America. The webpage in question was called curvature definitions for land surveyors and the last definition on the page was explaining how land surveyors include six centimetres of correction per one kilometre of measure distance to account for the curvature of the Earth.

Hi Aaron,
Sea level is a standard that varies with longitude and latitude all over the Earth. Because the Earth has a greater diameter at the equator than at the poles, sea level at the equator is 22 km higher (as measured from the center of the Earth/gravity than at the North Pole. Since the Earth rotates and water has inertia, it piles up on the western shore causing a different height from the Earth’s center depending on how fast the eastward movement is at that latitude. Atmospheric pressure is measured from sea level at all locations so you have standard based on a variable.

Hi Aaron,
They are named planets from the Ancient Greek word meaning wanderer because they did not follow a regular path in the sky. The ancient Greeks knew the Earth was round because when they went to Egypt they saw different stars in the sky, which would not happen The idea of a flat Earth was a result of the Church becoming the authority for truth and the Bible telling of the four corners.

The Bible is neither literal, nor straight forward. It is a book of tricks.

It’s been a long time since my religion lessons but as I recall the devil quoted the scriptures telling Jesus to jump off a cliff and angels would come preventing him from any injury.

That was an attempt at temptation Herb. To accept would be to give in to the untrustworthy, and satan would have had him in the bag. Jesus was immune.
There is also another time when Jesus was asked to prove himself by a sign of his power:
“A generation asks for a sign, yet none shall be given to it”
Or similar. Based on trust and belief in one’s sincerity. Does a groom ask his bride to prove her love on the wedding day?
Still don’t see what you were getting at. No probs though.
Regarding the four corners of the Earth, which is still in use today, doesn’t it simply mean the farthest possible distance apart? That’s my Interpretation. I guess all those years ago it would be taken literally due to lesser understanding to mean a square, even though flat-earthers claim a circle now.

What a lame attempt at gas-lighting. What does a surveying society’s website have to do with the actual shape of the earth? No engineer or surveyor anywhere working on real-world projects ever bothers with the curvature of the earth. There is no flat earth debate only the assumption of one. The earth’s shape is very easy to ascertain no debate needed. Anyone truly interested in determining the actual shape of the earth can do so quite easily by looking at any large body of water. One can also do a straightforward curvature test like the famous one Samual Robotham did back in the 1800’s; be sure to leave your prejudices and brainwashing at home.

Hi Aaron,
Density is the weight per unit volume of something. Weight is the mass of something times gravity. If you were on the moon where gravity is less you weigh a lot less but your mass is the same. Gravity exists, a force of gravity does not.
Since anyone can post on Youtube no matter how little they know it is not a source of reliable information. How many Youtube presentations are there about gravity and how it works?
