The EVIL History of our Education System
In the 1800s John D. Rockefeller realises a fatal flaw with the labour force in America. Up until this point most of America was rural, until the Industrial Revolution, meaning many were either home-schooled or went to schools run by the church. This meant they didn’t have the knowledge to work in factories and oil refineries.
He needed to find a way to educate a large amount of people at once in order to increase his workforce. However, knowledge is dangerous so the goal was to educate them enough to work for him but not enough that they would become ambitious or independent.
Rockefeller pioneered the American Public School System, to the rest of the world he looked like a saint. The truth was he was dangling the prospect of free education to American parent and was able to get them to relinquish their children to the states. This meant the most formative years of a child’s life could be spent conditioning them into exactly who you wanted them to be.
