A Bizarre & Unlawful Twist to Our UK COVID ‘Infections’ Story?

Our big story that official UK government data shows only 13,844 actual recorded ‘infections’ of COVID-19 during 2020 has gone viral and getting some pushback in medical circles. At least one general practitioner admits they are illegally failing to officially report COVID-19 infections in their patients.

Now, this could be a misunderstanding by those who didn’t read the story correctly that the reference was to data about ‘infections’ and not to deaths so we won’t rush to judgment. To help enlighten readers we post below an update as this unfolding scandal grows ever more bizarre.

First, the following appeared on the Lockdown Sceptics blog (it inadvertently misrepresents our story by citing ‘deaths’ instead of ‘infections’) it reads:

“Stop Press: Several readers have sent us an article that appeared in Principia Scientific pointing out the discrepancy between official UK Government data about how many people have died of COVID-19 and the data for statutory notifications of infectious diseases (NOIDS) in England and Wales. According to PHE, GPs are supposed to notify the local authority when one of their patients dies of a notifiable disease, yet only 13,844 deaths from COVID-19 have been recorded using this method in England and Wales.

According to Principia Scientific, this “shows beyond any reasonable doubt that the pandemic narrative peddled for the last nine months by politicians (in cahoots with the mainstream media) is gross misrepresentation and exaggeration”.

Not so fast. A bit of sleuthing (emailing some GPs) reveals a couple of reasons why GPs wouldn’t report the death of one of their patients from COVID-19 using this clinical reporting system.

They aren’t aware a patient of theirs has died of COVID-19 because said patient has been admitted to hospital via A&E.

All lab results are sent to PHE and a note is then inserted into the patient’s notes indicating that as PHE has already been notified a NOID is not required. A clinician has a legal duty to submit a NOID if they have clinical evidence of a notifiable disease, except if PHE has already been notified.

One GP responded thus:

“It’s an extremely antiquated system. Useless in my view and should been abandoned years ago. The only thing you can get from it is trends over long periods, although that makes the massive assumption that reporting behaviour doesn’t change. I haven’t reported any Covid cases. In fact, we’re told we don’t have to. It’s a useless piece of data and should be ignored!”

Principia Scientific’s Response:

Remember, our original story is about ‘infections’ and not deaths. Thankfully, Lockdown Sceptics acknowledges PSI is correct that “A clinician has a legal duty to submit a NOID if they have clinical evidence of a notifiable disease, except if PHE has already been notified.”

The truly alarming revelation comes from the one GP who states:

“I haven’t reported any Covid cases. In fact, we’re told we don’t have to. It’s a useless piece of data and should be ignored!”

Notwithstanding that the issue is about ‘infections’ let’s think this through for one moment.

The duty upon each and every doctor is to report all infections information on so it is officially recorded – it is a LEGAL REQUIREMENT as shown below:

We see four critical consequences here:

• The reporting of all such information is a statutory (compulsory) upon doctors and any medical professional admitting they are not compliant is breaking the law and liable to be struck off and lose their license to practice.
• Any senior practice manager or government body directing doctors to ignore this requirement to report all infectious diseases they see in patients is committing an offense.
• If this dereliction of a compulsory legal requirement is now occurring systemically under a direction from above on the flawed premise of custom and practice it means ALL reportable diseases, not just COVID19 are not accurately being recorded and we have a national medical scandal exposed.
• Finally, the government’s own website speak to ‘suspected cases’ (screenshot above) – which is misleading and unclear as PSI reported in ‘The Meaningless Meaning Of ‘COVID Cases’ last week.

The concise definition of statutory comes from the Cambridge Dictionary which tells us:

Moreover, in plain English on the gov.uk website is stated the following:

In effect, it means doctors personally are breaking the law and that ALL data for ALL diseases is unreliable and no official data can be reliable or trusted because these are statutory notifications – a legal obligation on medical practitioners. This shocking admission, if widespread, needs immediate investigation by the General Medical Council (GMC) which regulates doctors.

The GMC sets out the duties of a doctor registered with the General Medical Council and advises doctors:

“You are personally accountable for your professional practice and must always be prepared to justify your decisions and actions…”

Implicit in the aberrant GP’s skewed reasoning here is that we should give a free pass on statistics for COVID but ignore the incompetence/subterfuge currently blighting medical data reporting? Worse still, the official government reporting of COVID and flu was merged a few months ago making it even more of a black hole of data and open to statistical shenanigans.

We are living through very dark days indeed.

We would encourage any doctors who say they are being told, presumably via official channels, to ignore reporting COVID cases to immediately take legal advice and consult the GMC because whoever is directing them to forego a statutory duty is clearly breaking the law and inciting others to do the same.

Any senior officials directing doctors to engage in such professional dereliction need to be dismissed and prosecuted.
