NASA satellite sea-level chart: we’ve hit 1cm/yr rate of rise
NASA is now claiming that satellite data shows an annual sea level rise of one centimeter (0.31 inches). But those of us with seafront properties remain unmoved.
93 (± 4) mm Created with Sketch. This is the “uncertainty margin,” or the range from the mean (average) within which there is a high probability that the true number resides. For example, when we say that global mean sea level for a particular month is 50mm +/- 4 mm, the true value for that …

Note:
a) they say “Rate of change 3.3mm/year” (upper right). But that’s the average rate of SL rise for the whole chart, since 1993, i.e. multi-decade.
b) 2011 doubling of the multi-year rate (abrupt steepening of curve), probably due to the documented 2011 acceleration of multiple Antarctic glaciers.
c) 4mm rise in first four months of 2019. Latest reading is April 27 (hover over the tip of the curve), added this week … that’s 1.2cm/yr, though of course it will continue accelerating. I predict 3-5cm/year within 10-15 years.
Oddly there’s apparently not a word about this in the MSM. When they finally wake up, they’ll blame CO2 of course.
Owners of property near sea level had better hope that NASA is fiddling the satellite data. However, global tide-gauge data, managed by a different organisation (PSMSL), show the same acceleration and 2011 doubling of the rate of rise …
.
.
I firmly believe it’s started: the predictable solar-driven c.3 metre SL rise, ending by 2100 …
Meanwhile the world awaits Greta’s wise words about irrelevant CO2, after she’s sailed across the Atlantic. Homo ridiculous.

“Roger Higgs My goal is to establish the truth about climate- and sea-level change and mankind’s effect on them (if any).”
and
“Conclusions: Relative SL has been rising everywhere* (red lines) since before 1950.”
When we look at the Keeling curve ( https://www.esrl.noaa.gov/gmd/ccgg/trends/co2_data_mlo.html ) we see the atmospheric CO2 level has been increasing over a similar period of time. A review of Henry’s Law shows us that as the atmospheric concentration of CO2 rises, the average sea temperature also rises.
So we can add to the conclusions: ‘Sea temperature has risen over the study period causing it to expand slightly, and cause an apparent sea level rise.’
This can be regarded as completely natural, because sea temperature is controlled by the level of submarine tectonic activity.
Roger’s goal/conclusions can now be expanded to include:
‘I have established the truth about climate- and sea-level change and mankind’s effect on them – which is zero.’
