Tories Will Not Srcap ‘Net Zero’, Just Rename It To Mislead Us

Earlier this week I asked the rhetorical question of how the Conservative Environment Network would respond to Kemi Badenoch’s pledge to ditch the Climate Change Act and ‘net zero’ targets

The CEN, you will recall, has been campaigning for years to eliminate all UK emissions of ‘greenhouse gases’ by “mid-century”.

It seems we already have the answer! Sam Hall, who is Director of CEN, has just penned a piece for Conservative Home, which you can read here.

https://www.cen.uk.com/about-cen

He says that, while he is happy to see climate laws reviewed, the need to reduce emissions remains as important as ever.

He starts by wrongly conflating carbon dioxide with a “cleaner environment”, writing:

“It was welcome to see the party today recommitting to tackling climate change, and acknowledging that handing on a cleaner environment to future generations is a fundamentally conservative mission. “

Then goes on to spout the disproven, alarmist nonsense about extreme weather:

“Climate change is one of the greatest threats we face to our country’s prosperity and security.

If we do nothing, we face ever higher costs from flooding, retreating coastlines, poorer harvests, declining nature, and uninsurable assets. It is not something we can simply opt out of.

The UK is only a tiny share of global emissions, but we can and should play an outsized role in addressing this challenge through leveraging our strengths in technology and finance.

To encourage others to go further and faster, UK climate leadership must not be abandoned, but reinvented in a more credible, conservative fashion”.

Worse still, he repeats the mantra about climate leadership, which was one of the major planks in the original Climate Change Act in 2008.

Hall ignores the reality that since 2008, world emissions of carbon dioxide have increased by 17 percent and are still increasing.

Continuing with the same failed policy is the definition of insanity.

He agrees with Badenoch about the “scandal of high electricity prices”, but refuses to acknowledge that they are high as a direct result of ‘net zero’ policies and the concomitant transition to expensive and unreliable ‘renewable’ energy.

Nor does he explain how he would go about cutting prices.

He calls for Kemi Badenoch to quickly come up with “a suite of concrete policies on how we will reduce emissions, drive innovation in clean technology, restore nature, and adapt to warmer temperatures”.

All in all, as far as the CEN is concerned, it will be business as usual.

While the Climate Change Act itself might be scrapped, a Conservative Government will carry on with basically the same policies as Ed Miliband is pursuing.

And as he finishes by saying, it will cost us a fortune:

“To be taking climate change seriously, we must be willing to bear some proportionate costs now to tackle it for future generations’ sake.”

It remains to be seen how Kemi Badenoch will respond to this, although my guess is that her thinking is already closely aligned with Sam Hall’s.

So it looks like under a Conservative Government we will still have ‘net zero’, just under a different name.

Of course they won’t scrap it. The tories are just as much puppets of the globalist cartel as any other party, and the green agenda is a globalist policy. So far, only president Trump looks like he may succeed, but let’s wait and see on that shall we. Honestly, who do these idiots think they’re talking at? CO2 is the gas of life, its increases lag those of temperature rise. Therefore the climate change agenda is false, QED. It’s obvious to any six year old “scientist”.
Maybe their audience is ficticious and they simly don’t need a real one. They can use the really stupid who do believe it and ignore the majority who don’t and they don’t care about the proportion of believers. Or, they can just keep mouthing the mantra because they’re told to and don’t care whether they are heard. They are determined to do the globalist’s bidding because they are forced to to keep their positions. They are the actors in a theatre, but the stalls are almost empty.
